2JZ cams into 1JZ machining question

I bought these 2JZ cams from someone on another forum. He had them machined to work in a 1JZ. Wouldn't these protrusions on the 2JZ cams need to be machined off as well though?

I feel like they might come in contact with the below section of the head or is this not the case? I cannot tell without fully installing the cams and turning them. Does anyone with 2J cams in their 1J know? (as you can see in the above picture, the 1J cam in the middle does not have these protrusions)

I don't believe so but is that right where the cam sensors go? If so, those are the tabs for the cam sensors to read to know the location of the valves. It is like the trigger wheel for the crank sensor but just a tab in this case.

Contact BigZavs on here, he know about that since he had his machine shop machine 2JZ cams for his 1JZ. I know for a fact, that if they pass where the cam sensor hole is, then those are the tabs where it should read.

Cam tab is the next one to the right.

Doesnt the 1j cam have something similar? Id just throw it in with some lube and turn it slowly and watch. As long as it clears it wont hit.

Whoops, good catch, I didn't even look there, just where he was pointing. Don't grind off anything, just do what hvyman said, put some oil on the cam and journals, install them and turn slowly while watching the tab.

Also, make sure tue prop up the head to clear all of the valves or you could bend one.

No, the 1JZ cam doesn't have any protrusions there. That's why it worries me. The guy I bought them from said they don't need to be machined so we shall see when I turn these puppies.
