........CAT! Gotcha to look anyways. LOL
Here's a picture of the 7M and 2JZ oil filter brackets. I am doing a 2jz swap into a 1990 MA70 for those who don't know.
The 2JZ oil filter bracket puts the filter at a very difficult location when the engine is mounted into the car, especially with the water/oil oem cooler sandwitched into this.
Can I not just use my old 7M oil filter bracket and then also make use of my old 7M's external oil cooler that I was using. It's an aftermarket enlarged cooler and surely will provide better cooling than the 2jz water oil cooler.
The 7M had a pressure release valve that would only divert the oil to the cooler under higher pressure situations if I remember correctly. Could this be resolved by simplyu removing the spring and little cylinder from the bracket housing? This would allow the oil to continuously flow through the cooler would it not. And where should the oil be returned to the block optimally if so?
Is there any point in additionally running the water oil cooler that had been on the original 2jz filter bracket? Or is this overkill.
I also noticed that the 2jz bracket has 2 threaded plug in it, removed in this picture. Could they be alternatly used to run lines to a aftermarket oil cooler?
My car never sees harsh weather or winter driving conditions. So having the oil too cool should be a problem, I don't think anyways, can your oil be too cool?
So I would prefer to use the 7m bracket with my cooler and if need be I could also make use of the water oil cooler if it would be a good thing.
Opinions?
Thanks guys!
