I replaced the 1-wire sensor on the 2J (Aristo), with the Autometer sender. I wanna make sure that it's okay to do that and that the original sender/sensor did not provide some signal to the ECU or whatnot... Hopefully it's JUST used for the guage.

Can anyone confirm for sure? I did search, but did not see anything that indicated it did not cause other issues.

Thanx,
E

the ecu only sees the 2 wire temp sensor iirc.. just check the diagrams.. its just for the gagues..

How does the aristo's act.. I havn't changed mine out, will it read cold or hot.. I have aem so i can check, but I'm just driving in and out of the shop and havnt hookd up the laptop to tune or anything.. the gauge started moving up a little when I was reving it after i drove it out..

^^Need to update that sig, so that we can see how yours is looking. Did ya get it all back together?

I'm in the final steps/details now. Since I'm staying with the auto, I'm gonna use the MKIV auto shifter. Trying to wire it up now, but it's gonna take a little fabbing to get it in there right.

the one wire water temp sensor is the guage only sensor. It has no feed to the ECU. The one you are thinking about is a two wire ND sensor. Should be about 12mm thread, forget the pitch. The one wire one is BPT (NPT can fit but it will crossthread since it is 18 threads per inch for NPT v 19 threads per inch for BPT).
