2500rpm noise?

i have had my car for about 9 months now or so. and i noticed since i got it that when i am in first gear and reving slow. when i hit about 2500 rpm it knocks a lil then goes away after about 2700. it use to be worse when i got it if thats possible. i dont think its rod knock b/c it only does it in first gear. and for some reason i am thinking it didnt do it when i ran high test. but i could be wrong on that one. i cant remember exactly. there any better way to see if its rod knock? i really hope its not......

haha no it sounds liek rod knock.....
if ur lucky like me all you need to do is replace the bearing... mine was only at 2300-2900 and thats it.

The key to identifying rod knock is that it will happen when there is no load on the engine. Try it in second gear, and just let the motor hover around where you should hear it. It's very enigmatic, too much gas and it's gone, not enough and it's gone.
It exists right where the engine is neither slowing the car or accelerating it...
This is the same point where you could easily pull the shifter out of gear and replace it with no grinding. If it is knocking under these circumstances in any gear, but not knocking at any other time, you should replace the rod bearings. 48.50 for all six plus shipping from champion. The only sucky part is that you have to drop the pan, get the numbers from the crank and rods, add them and order the bearings apropriately.

so your saying its at the point now where is it still able to be saved? thats good to hear. but i have to drop the pan before i can oder the set? is that what your saying?
