Ok. I got into a "Discussion" with someone about these two turbos the other day. The question was, will the JT61GT yield more power than the 20G at the same boost level.

My car currently has the 20G on it. It came that way... I have a JT61GT on the bench ready to go in. I don't have my fuel mods installed yet so I'm at 10psi of boost.

So, if I were to dyno my car with each of the turbos at the same boost level will power be the same? See sig for mods...

He was talking to me all wrong. I didn't like his tone. Next time, I'm gonna stab him in the face with a soldering iron. :biglaugh: (anyone know where that's from?)

that kinda hard to say really with no compser maps and such

but i must say the 20g will be more fun to drive at 10 psi

but after you get fule mods the 61 is far better choice pending on a/r

you'd need flow charts to back this one up. However, based on what i know about the two im sticking with the JT61 for more power at same PSI and way more power potential overall.

I don't know the answer to your turbo question, but that quote is from Joe Dirt.

The 20G is a good turbo, it will max out about 450rwhp, It might spool up about 100rpm faster, that's it. The JT61 at the same psi level will yield much more hp than the 20G and have a much better top end. I have had the 20G and now a JT58 and the JT is a far superior turbo!

didn't think the 20G was good for that much power. how does it fit up to the 7m? ie what exhaust adapter if any.

Yeah, the 20G requires an adapter. Don't know the model or part# for it though.

My idea is to get rid of the 20G and stick with my JT61 and my 57 Trim CT. When one goes out, I'll switch to the other while the downed one is getting rebuilt.

Sticking with these two turbos will make for easy swapping! :)

My thought was that the JT61 will flow more air than the 20G and may provide a little more power at the same PSI; but, not all that much.

I wish I had access to a dyno that wasn't $125.00 (plus tax) for three runs!!

Oooooh yeah! I love that the 57 has power pretty much on tap! That JT61 pulls like a moe foe when it wakes up!

It'll be the best of both worlds! :)

What are you using for engine management? If you are just running 11psi with the stock AFM, then you will probably not notice much difference. Turn up the boost and you will see a huge difference in both turbos. Turn up the boost very high and your car will be a beast with the 61.

I have finally got all my fuel mods purchased just not installed yet. Here's a list of what I have that will be going in.

PTE 550's (Thanks Dr. Jonez!!!)
Walbro 255
Maft Pro w/Speed Density Harness
AEM Wideband (Thanks Driftmotion!!!)

The rest of my mods are in my sig. :)

My plan is to run 14 psi at low boost and 18 psi at high. Whatever power I get on the Dyno will be what I get. I'm not really shooting for a number. I am curious as to what I'll get though... ;)

BTW: The JT61 is .70 A/R.

The only spec I could quickly find was this on the 20G = (16 cm2).

Don't know if that helps...

You'll probably be in the low 400rwhp range at 18psi, if your motor's healthy. With a lot more potential with race gas and high boost.
