So with todays high gas prices, and the general shitty economy, what are you doing for vacation this year. Are you even going on vacation? Are you staying close to home. Are you doing what you always do? Are you just doing whatever you want to do, because you only live once and you gotta play the cards you are dealt? You can answer either way, if you already went, or if it is still upcoming.

My family does the same thing every year. We visit the Gulf Shores, Ala beaches for a week, and stay in a condo. This year, we found one that had water access, and brought groceries to cook every night. That way we weren't going out every night to all of the expensive fine restaurants like we do every year. We also weren't burning up gas running all over the area to those places, and saved us a lot of gas and money. I feel like even if our normal vacation took us further away, that we would have ended up here anyway this year.

Next month, headed to San Diego to visit some fam. Next year, wifey's thinking about going down to Florida and doing the Disney thing. :bigthumb:

We head up to New York every now and then (actually this weekend) but we take the "Chinese bus" for these trips. ;)

Depends on where you live. The Alaska cruises are the most popular in the world, because they are a novelty for most folks.

I live in BC, Canada, so I've seen glaciers before, I see snow every year, I've seen frozen lakes / rivers / bays, I've seen forest that stretches further than the eye can see, and I've seen small towns. So, the novelty factor is pretty much defunct for me.

However, if you live in some place where these things are not easily accessible, then it's a whole different story.

Personally, given my choice of cruise destinations, I'll take the hot ones way down south. :)

Doing the family thing and going to a resort in Vermont for a 2 week long ski trip (we own the condo, and rent it when we are not there) Other than that, maybe Germany or Italy to visit family.

Going to Breckenridge next week, and then probably driving to Olympia, WA at the beginning of October, to bring some stuff out/try to find a job. This so I can drive there again at the beginning of November to move. So yeah, nothing has changed except for the fuel bill, lol.

way to hype it up for me... lol

I don't want a carribean-ish cruise because I hate sitting on the beach... plus, mom used to live/work in Alaska and said it was amazing. I would rather just make the 10k mile drive up there... but the wife is a wuss.

We like to actually chew and taste our food. :biglaugh:

I am with Dave on this one. Hot summer days are better for me. Both my wife and I are heading to Vegas this year for the Supra meet. I will be nice to see the old faces again and have some good fun. :)
