I had two people actually try to start a race against me. I'm out trolling just trying to find a victim to race and low and behold a Saleen mustang goes by on the other side of the highway. I make a quick U-turn and chase him down. We end up at a red light side by side and he starts revvvvvving his motor. His car is by far the best sounding exhaust I've ever heard. I've talked with the guy before at our local college. I told him I'd be on the lookout for him one night when I wasn't in my work truck. We didn't go from a dig, but really just drove about fifty until we got out of the city limits. We went from about a fifty mile per hour start. I don't' know how fast we were going since my speedometer is broke.........again. I was in third and I started to beep three times, but on the first beep he took off. He caught me a little off guard, but still only managed to get about a car length ahead of me (damn his car is loud). My gt35r spooled up and it was all over. I don't know exactly when he gave up, but before I shifted into fourth, I was at least ten cars ahead of him. I pulled over into the median and he followed. He got out and said "Damn, that bitch is fast!!!" I told him thanks and asked if he wanted a rematch but he graciously declined.

The SC'd cobalt was actually a much tougher race. I think he would have owned the Saleen mustang. I outran him easily every time, but by the end of third I would only have him by about five or six cars, but it kept getting worse through fourth. I raced him about four or five times with the same outcome each time. He had his girlfriend in the car with him and she was laughing at him. We probably raced to about 120-130 each time, so it was over pretty quick. That is all.

So far I remember racing a 1999 corvette, 1998 corvette, 1994 corvette, 2006 cobalt, 2002 Saleen Mustang, numerous Mustang GT's, F-150 lightning, 1999 Z28, 1988 supra, 1989 supra, Dodge Hemi truck, 1970 Nova, Porsche, and some more that I"m sure I"m forgetting. The 21 I posted was just a joke, because I really have no idea.

Thanks Shaeff, and for all of the flamers, it was saturday night late on a empty highway. Remember, I live in Alabama and alot of people still use a horse and buggy and go to bed at sundown.

You know I could never lie to you Chris,...............of course the track was closed so we had to do it on the highway..............:evil2:

It was late though, and in all honesty, I never got above a hundred. I shifted into fourth just to get it out of a strain. The race was over, he had given up, so fourth was not needed.

Nice kills Jay!

I don't know a whole lot about either of those cars. I know I once revved my stock MKII at a saleen under a bridge, and he revved back. I tucked my tail and got away from there without looking like I wanted any of it. So, if the Cobalt was the faster of the two, they must have both been some pretty decent cars.

BTW, How do I know if I'm looking at a supercharged Cobalt? I've never given much respect to them yet, but hear the supercharged ones are pretty quick.

There are two types of SS Cobalts.

One is a 2.4L NA

The other is a 2.0 supercharged.

beat me to it.

If it's a 4 door with SS badges, it's the 2.4L

TRUE 2.0L Supercharged SS are ALL coupes, with the giant wing stock.

Want to know a wicked sleeper?

Ion Redline... same drivetrain as the Cobalt SS (2.0 S/C) with all the practicality of a damn Saturn.

My 3 piece wing fits in the trunk of the Ion Redline with room to spare. And my 220lbs 6'1 self fits in the back with zero problems!

Cheap, fun, reliable, and practical. It's the wife's DD ;)

My favorite kill in my old grey car was an Ion Redline. I actually had just intake and exhaust. He claimed intake and exhaust as well. We ran from about 60-130ish a couple of times. I beat him ......barely! That car surprised the hell out of me running that close.

Sorry for the off topic Jay, and your kills are more impressive. I just had to add to Doward's comment.

look under the SS badge on the Cobalts and it will say supercharged if it's the supercharged model...

can't always get a good look at the sides...

those ecotec engines are some nasty little packages, chevy just has to start making a cheaper and higher powered car for them to take down all the SRT-4 guys...
