recently i bought my first supra(7mgte) and like every one mine have a BHG,when i send the head to the motorshoperformence they find out that my cams are fked!
my first question to supra good's is:
can i replace the cams with the 7mge ones, are they the same?
the other question is about the auto to manual conversion:
does the w58 from the 7mge will bolt perfectly,i know i'll need the pedals, all shifter line,''rpm gauge''(forgot its name),shunt the pins of ''N''/''p'' position(to be able of start the car),the wheel of 7mge,all the clutch sist.(that i will send it to rebuilt to make it stronger)
i think its all..
my set up is just intake, direct turbo back exaust 3'',mbc,irinium plugs, stock ct26 at 0.8 bar
my auto trainee is just fked they want 1500€ to rebuild it!!!!!
sorry about my English!

uh, yeah as far as I could find on the Cams, NA ones will work but they give the 7mgte a different power band from the Turbo Cams.

i would try to find turbo cams if you could...but the n/a cams will work...the n/a will shift your powerband to the lower rpms and hinder your top end. there was a dyno graph comparing them at various boosts somewhere on here. search for it.

the w-58 will bolt up to the to the 7m but has been know to eat itself apart at anything over 300hp i believe. try to source yourself a r-154 they will handle far more power. that will probably run you about 250- 500usd depending on where you get it. keep in mind that the clutches are DIFFERENT for the r-154 and w-58. Also you will need a drive shaft (propeller shaft) as they are transmission specific as well.

some useless info...the block and head are the same for the gte and ge. its what's inside of them that is different

I am sure your machine shop has it's heart in the right place, but... Do not just assume the cams are bad because they say so. You would not be the first person to bring up this subject. Post up some pictures if you can. You would be suprised how much material can collect on the cam journals and to the inexperienced 7M builder they may look trashed. I am willing to bet your cams are okay. Do a search and you might find some pictures that look just like your cams.

I was in a similiar situation thinking my cams were thrashed when I tore about during my rebuild. Turns out they were just fine when my machinist gave them an examination. As for the n/a cams, they'll work and there's a thread discussing the different aspects of it. (Turbo vs n/a dyno comparision thread)

Adding onto the W58, it's not really the horses that'll beat it up, but the torque that will. I believe there's a handful of people that went past 300hp(not sure if it's at the wheels), but only briefly.

(I've got n/a cams and a w-58 FS) /shameless plug.
