If you have it, by all means use it.

If you're looking for something to rock the socks...

I would go with a sp57 - 61 or something similar like a nice to4 setup wih a 55-62mm compressor wheel.

Or go cheap and find a holset hy35 or hx40.

How long would it take to spool a sp61 on a 2.0 Liter engine?

The following is just a guess, because I'm not sure of the spool characteristics of the 1G.

DSM’s(eclipses, ect.) have a 2.0 liter motor, and their equivalent of the ct-26 is the 18G(roughly)

The 18G’s compressor wheel is slightly larger, however the turbine wheel is slightly smaller with a marginally tighter A/R, so it spools a little quicker than the ct-26.

This turbo spools about 4,000-4,200 RPM, and then pulls like mad until redline.

In my opinion the ct-26 should be a real fun turbo, it may lag a little in the lower end but once it spools you should like it.

You live in the USA, so I really have to ask - is that 1G in a MkIII Supra? If so, why was it swapped there? A 210hp TT 2.0L engine seems like a waste when even the US NA 3.0L version has 10 less hp but probably has a much better hp/torque curve, is a smooth running engine, is cheap, and let's face it: a MkIII is quite a bit of weight for a 2.0 to be pushing around.

yes its in a mk3 but its pretty quick to be 2.0 i have killed numerous camaros mustangs other supras hondas and alot of others its quite suprising.
it usually spools around 3500 then picks up quick but now it doesnt spool til around 4000-4500 and then it dies out around 5000-5500 cuz of one dead turbo. one of my friends says that the 2.0 will spool this turbo quicker much like the mr2 because of it being so much like the mr2 engine all i know is i can hardly play around to much right know and i want to be boostin soon oh with slipping clutch can stay side by side with stock srt-4 1/8 mile time with fouled plugs jumped timing and 1 bad turbo was 10.03 on street tires not to bad i dont think it seems to run smoothly. and as far as why the swap was done im not sure it was a 7mge auto now its 1g 5sp it was done before i got the car and i wanted a supra so bad i took what i could get i kinda like being different

Um no. The small 16 and big 16g both spool way before that.

The ct will spool on a 2.0 just fine.

I think having a 1G in America is cool. Yeah, it's "only" a 2.0, but it's still a Toyota turbo I-6. It may only make 10 more HP than the 7M-GE, but we all know that turbo engines are much easier and cheaper to get more power out of. I don't know what the bore and stroke of the 1G is, but I'm sure it's a pretty quick revver, all though it may be short on low-end torque.

Like I said, the 1G is cool to have in America. There are so many GA70s in Japan that it's not even funny, however. Toyota also used the 1G in the Mark II (a 4 dr. sedan, not the Supra) so they were sure of it's capabilities-as they should be with any engine (or otherwise) they make.

I'm curious to see what kind of power you can make with that setup. We know what other parts you'd like to upgrade, but what brands will you being going with? As it's been said, you should consider getting a smaller SP turbo some time down the road.

Um....???? ok I'm confused. Where did the 16g come in? I was talking about the 18g.

Yes the 16g spools before that, the 16g, in my opinion is the ideal turbo for the 4G DSM motor. The 18g takes a little longer to spool but when it does watch out.

The ct-26 will probably reach full spool well before 4,000 RPM's if only because of the two additional power strokes( with the 1g) when compared to a DSM's 2.0 liter on the 18g.

I was only giving my opinion based on some of my experiences. The 18g on a 2.0 liter motor is the closest thing I could think of.

LOL, You usually don't miss those kind of things, so I thought it might have been something along those lines. ;)

So what’s the cure to Supramania induced insomnia? :biglaugh:
