The problem isn't making the tranny fit, it's getting the V8 to run without the auto tranny it's used to while still using the stock ECU. If you're planning on running a standalone ECU, the point is moot, of course.

That would be seriously cool. I'd take the good Doctor's advice over mine, in case anyone was wondering.

I suspect that anyone looking at purchasing a 1UZ and a Getrag tranny is unlikely to balk at buying a new ECU, anyhow.

yeah, back when i was digging into it, i read about all the stuff that the ECU wouldn't work w/o the trans....i then talked to a couple of aussie guys that said that was complete crap- just jumper the neutral start switch and you're off. take it FWIW as i never verified this myself....

hahaha thanks guys, yeah, this is quite the big project, I already have the engine, and am about half way to getting the trans.

I am going standalone, because the 1UZ is getting twin T3's, and I want some ease of tuning.

OH and its not going in a supra either, or a toyota....

I WAS going 1JZ origionally, but it wouldnt have nearly enought torque for the weight of car, so I went w/ a TT 1UZ.
