There are many factors in how well a cooling system works. Ideally, you'd have all your air dams and under tray in place, but that isn't too common on these cars anymore due to stupidity and laziness.
Ambient weather will also play a role. My car does just fine pretty much no matter how hard I push it up at this altitude in the dry, cool weather. However, somewhere like Arizona... my fan setup is pathetic, to say the least. Try to get a fan pulling at minimum 3500-4000 cfm. The OEM clutch fan setup is a good one, the hydrofan, as is (from what I've read, I have one, but I've not used it yet) the electric OEM fan setups from various Ford vehicles such as the Taurus, Contour, Lincoln MkVIII, etc...
