Hello all, just picked up my mkIII a couple of days ago. It has a few flaws, paint, rough at low rpms, but I got it for $1800 bucks. I couldn't pass it up. Runs and drives fine otherwise.

congrats on the buy. I saw this posted on craigslist for months. Wanted to get it but I needed something that was ready to drive. Glad to see someone picked it up, and from the picks looked like a good deal

You going to polish the intake manifold, valve covers, and PS reservoir? It's a lot of work (a couple days with a dremel), but well worth it. Maybe a fresh coat of paint in the engine bay (NAPA makes color matching paint that can be put into an aerosol spray can for cheap), and maybe paint the cam gear cover and the spark plug valley cover (looks really nice sanded smooth and painted). Simple little work that will take a couple days to do it all, but IMHO well worth it.
