you dont need to extend it just need to change the plugs on the end so that they will plug into your cars body harness.or you could make a jumperharness..drill a whole through your firewall this allows there to be just enough length to reach the ecu mount behind your glovebox without having to extend the wiring harness....let me know if you need picts..

making the jumper harness is the easy part..

There is no way my harness would have reached the ECU, even with another hole closer to the ECU. I had to extend mine by almost exactly 13".

well since you all think i am wrong why have a seen 2 mkiii's myself that have not extended their wiring at all and were able to k eep the ecu in the stock location? trust me its possible just takes some work and you have to drill the whole in the right spot..

id like to see it w/out extending in the stock location. stock is beyond the glovebox and the harness needs to go over near the Intake manifold on the other side of the engine bay. id really like to see how that is done

Andrew, I am not doubting you, but I'd like to see some pictures of what you are talking about.

In my situation, there was NO WAY the harness was going to reach the ECU unless I moved the ECU to the engine bay (not gonna happen) or lengthened the wires.

Umm lets see mightyal & supraracer01 on SF both run non extended harness's. but there is a key point you do have to extend two wires on the harness i forget which ones they are but there are two wires that need to be extended.. they are not part of the main harness...you do have to flip the ecu..which makes up about 6in give or take...you must extend your body plugs but this is only minor... for ref this might help http://www.supraracerturbo.4t.com/photo2.html...
p.s. sorry if i acted like a dbag earlier...didn't mean to...i need some help on the fusebox wiring for an 89+...i am nearing the end of my swap..
