I was just talking with Suprahero on the phone, and according to him, a new one is $800. Now to think of it, the 1JZ was offered in the Lexus cars, so he should be able to get one cheaper than that.

Might aswell just switch over to the 2jz pump then. that price is insane for a water pump.

New hydrofan waterpump from japan - $925 including shipping
2jz waterpump from toyota - $197

It'd be pretty stupid not to swap to the 2j pump

+1 hydro setup is a PITA.. heavy, messy if leaking, once it breaks it damn costly to fix all for a slight cooling benefit. I wouldn't say upgrade in most cases unless its broken, but to not switch to the 2jz mechanical would be illogical at best.

Aaron is working on a kit to rebuild them for those of us who like the hydrofan. It's not a leaky mess either. If you have one that leaks, you fix it, just like anything else with the supra. I don't want the electric fans so I chose to send mine to Aaron.

The last time my waterpump quit, I thought about going with the electric fans, but the ones I found were three hundred dollars, plus two hundred for a water pump. I found a used 1jz waterpump on ebay for fifty dollars, so I bought it. I like the hydrofan, and my car has never ran even half way warm according to the temperature guage. As long as I can keep finding 1jz waterpumps when mine go bad, I'll keep the hydrofan. That doesnt mean I secretly make fun of and point and laugh at you guys though............:evil2:

+1+1+1....if mine didnt have the cooling ability it does, id be running electic. Cant argue with a constant 80*celcius=176*f while boosting 15-20 on race gas...on an 85* day....

In all honesty I would have stayed with the hydrofan but my attempt at finding a god used one was a huge failure. Bought a total of 3 and none were any good so I just decided to say fuck it and go mechanical pump with electric fans.

suprahero, my mechanical fan is far more elite than your hydro.. :squint:

haha, all joking aside wtf @ e-fans.. I hate them too, but I was referring to the 2jz pump with mechanical fan housed in the 7m shroud.

I have the new and improved super-hydro, so I'm guessing mine is more elite.......:sarcasm:

well my valve covers are green and you are suprahero.. hmm :sarcasm:

I think a good deal of ppl may have trouble using the fore mentioned setup though, the fan and shroud and most that cant get the shroud to work and stick with the fan probably dont realize that kills efficiency like crazy. guess I just got lucky..
