1JZ water/foam on oil cap?

So I got to changing the oil in my 1J, and I drained the oil and checked the filter, which were both fine, just black since this was the first oil change I gave this engine since I bought it.

I popped the oil cap to fill it back up, and there was foam all over the oil cap.

It doesn't have any problems overheating or give any signs of a blown head gasket.

I read some things on condensation causing this. It's been cold around here (30's-40's) and my PCV valve is open, could this be my problem?

The condensation could also just be from an engine that was likely sitting for a while before you bought it, combined with the low temperatures.

50 Dollar test to check if there is combustion gas in coolant from Napa will tell you if it is a BHG. Beter to be sure then guess IMHO

It's not smoking and isn't overheating.
I drained it of its oil and water, there's no mix.

plus the block says JZ, not M, so I think the headgasket is fine. ;)

Dont be an asshole Dustin. I was giving you an honest suggestion not trying to be a dickhead.

You are the one asking newb questions? Isn't this your second 1j swap? Did your first one do this?

It " should " go away . Mine did after a few heat cycles. My rebuild was with the same weather conditions.
I would get your garage nice and warm and maybe use a hair dryer to dry out valve covers and such. That is what I had to do. But what do I know I just have a crappy old 7m .

FWIW you can have a BHG and not have any symptoms. Gtsfirefighter is a good example didn't have any symptoms other than losing coolant through a leaky radiator. Just cause its a JZ doesn't mean it DOESN'T happen. I've persoanlly seen this happen on three occasions. One being the "mighty" 2jz. Just my .02 id do the test to just to have a def. Answer.

I was kidding, matt.

simmer.

I'm gonna connect my PCV valve, put new coolant and oil in it, and see what happens.

^i hope you dont mean running the car in a closed garage

Where the heck did you get that Idea? By heat cycles I ment a few drives around the block, work, school. ect.

By nice and warm I ment turn the heat on in his shop which I have been to and know it is a nice shop with heat. Hair dryer to remove any moisture in the valve covers . It has been raining for at least 5 days in a row in Washington. pretty freaking damp here I have a Dehumidifyer in mine.

But seriously I would get the test just to be 100% sure. plus after you check and see for your self you can sell it to a 7m'er lol''

I know you were joking hence the Crappy 7m remark
