I'm a lil ahead of myself but I wanna do the reasearch, Im toying with swapping a 1jz into my 90 turbo supra I found that building a good 7M and swapping to a 5 speed from my auto will cost more than if I were to have a shop swap the tranny and a 1jz engine, I know the 1jz stock outperforms the 7M, and I know these issues may have been covered before, the only downside i see to doing a 1jz is i have to drive out of state to have swap and its got less torque cuz its a 2.5L, however its cheaper and less time than if my friend and I pulled the motor and machined the parts waited for them to return etc and then worry bout other issues. Here are my questions:
1. Whats highest boost allowed on a stock or semi stock bpu 1jz engine?
2. Is it true its as bullet proof as a 2jz if well maintained?
3. What oil filter does it use?
4. Can you get oem parts like ps pumps, hoses, belts etc in this country?
5. If given a major problem can a toyota dealership figure out the 1jz?
6. How availible are parts for it / and can you modify 2jz parts to work on it?
7. For street, highway, autocross and from a roll type drag racing, is the 1jz better deal, i've heard both opinions not sure which is accurate?
8. Is 5,000 reasonable for a 5 speed r154, clutch pedals and all other parts and a 1jzgte rebuilt with a greddy fmic, boosty controller, intake and turbo back exhaust?
9. And is it a true twin setup or sequential like the 2jz?

Thanks, I know some of u post all pissed if someone asks covered questions but i want all my answers in one thread so that i may refer to it easily and forward to tohers involved with this idea, Thanks guys :)

1 stock twins shouldnt be pushed past 18 psi.
2 it is basically a 2jz...so yes. just as strong
3 same filter as 2jz
4 yes most oem parts are all 2jz . the rest are also not to hard to get .
5 they dont have any problems a dealer couldnt figure out using a 2j manual.
6 parts can be ordered easily .the accessories are all 2jz so yeah use em
7 the better deal... thats way to debatable. its personal preference.
8 5k should be plenty for that
9 they are the true twin each turbo has 3 cylinders each.

alright man thanks a lot for the info, If I get this job or I get my money soon Im gonna try to take it and have this done, a lot hassle free comapred to swapping my tranny and having all engine parts machined, getting new turbo intercooler and electronics for my 7m and then worrying that it will hold, not to mention the 7m is harder to work on cuz the intake manifold and fuel rail is a pain to mess with, Thanks again man
