1jz timing specs

anyone know exactly what the timing spec for a 1jzgte is?

I don't believe you can adjust the timing on the 1jz, it automatically adjust by itself. Its not like the 7m.
But it should be a 10 degrees.

10 degress BTD , but you can't really set it on the fly. its controlled by the ECU with feedback from Crank and Cam sensors

Basically you will set the timing at TDC when assembling the engine/replacing timing belt etc and the computer will take it from there. (copied this from another thread)

what's basically been said is that the base timing is 10* BTDC, and changed by ECU while running via inputs from cam/crank/map etc sensors

lol I was like ...sounds like something I said on another thread, but yes...this is how its done.

K. i work at a local dealership and had one of the techs get on alldata and checked on a 2jz and it said 10 degrees btdc. it also said that i had to do a jumper to te01 and e01 in the dlc while timing or something like that. is that how you do it on the 1jz as well?

hrm didnt hear about the te01 and e01 or read about it. i did mine via TSRM with setting it to 0 w/ cams. i would assume the 1jz would be exactly the same
