1JZ Swap

Hey im looking for a new engine and I was wondering if it is possible to swap a 1JZ and bein able to use the same transmission as the 7m gte's tranny. im on a low budget but i found a 1JZ out of a toyota chaser for bout the same price as a used 7mgte.

I already ave the wiring harness and stuff for the 7m but not the 1Jz, thats y its makes it 'bout the same price. which one should I get?

If you're trying to do a 1J swap on a budget, you better know exactly what you're doing or your car will be sitting for awhile with a non-running engine in it while you try to figure it out or come up with the money to finish it.


Rebuilding/replacing your 7M is just that, rebuild and replace. There's more expenses to a 1j swap than just the engine. Especially if you're buying a 1j out of something else other than a Supra.

Me and a friend are going thru everything we need to put one in a MKII which is a bit different but not that much and we are looking at 5 grand at a minimum and thats leaving the twins on there and just doing things right.

I'm sure other things will come up they always do but I would plan on 5 grand.
