I have a 95 supra na-t and just had my headgasket let go( High mileage motor will be for sale with turbo mani and possibly dp)! I had it with a low boost setup on a aem. Im selling my current setup and plan on going with a 1jz for the ffim r154 and cop AKA i got a really good deal on a 1j rear sump with the long shifter! Basically im looking for a 400-450whp setup I was wondering how the guys that have the 1jz feel about it? Is the stock ecu with a piggy back and bigger injectors worth it or is the jdm ecu iffy? I just wasn't a fan of na intake mani and the distributer yes i could replace those but with the cost of that plus the r154 trans swap I could just go 1jz and still save 1k. Any thoughts on 400hp setups on the 1jz? I know lots of guys have used them in their sc300 and loved them. Supra forums have given less then a inviting welcome to the 1jz stating it belongs in nothing more then mk3s and sc300-400s that its not good enough for the mkiv. Coming from my mk3 background was a bit insulting so I thought I would come back to a forum that seams to have experience with the 1jz not bias. If there is something im over looking the reliability on the 1jz or something im unaware of let me know. I relize im going from a 3 to a 2.5 but im also gaining the r154 ffim and cop! And if 2.5 isnt enough i can always make a 1.5 jz. Let me know what you guys think!
