i just finished the swap and when i went to crank it without the efi fuse in to get oil in the turbos, it turned over fine the first time, but when i went to turn it over again the starter just slipped and then i heard it click like the gear grabbed. went to start it again and it turned over.

so then i wanted to see if the car would start after puting in the efi fuse back in, of course the starter slipped again and then it grabbed again and was able to turn the engine over, but it did not start. i tried it a few more times but it did not want to even try to start.

i checked for fuel and when i pulled off the fuel line to the stock fuel pressure reg, it had lots of pressure in it, so the fuel pump is working.

first question- is the started toast, ive never had one do this. i am not looking forward to taking it out, i had to on my 7m and it was a real pain!

second- can i use a digital volt meter to check the injectors? and what other things should i check for to get this running?
when i did use the volt meter and set at 20 i did not get any reading at all when i tried starting it. also pulled a plug and there was no sighns or sent of gas on them

just found this hideing under the intake manifold! not sure what its for or were it goes.engine2 002..jpgengine2 001..jpgfound it! it was a vsv by the oil filter, thanks mattsplatt.

Starter: Does the solenoid click every time but not the starter?
Injector: Once you get it cranking again try taking a long screwdriver and set it against the injector and your ear while someone crank's, you should clearly here the injector ticking if it's getting power/signal.

the starter spins free and then will make a loud clinking noise when it catches, i will put up a video of what it sounds like.

i will try the screw driver trick as well.

is there something i can check on the ecu with the volt meter to check things?

also it semms strange to hook a ground up to aluminum, is this were this ground is suposed to be hooked up to. i know the other one is in the back of the manifold underneathengine4..jpg

That's the correct spot for the ground.

I assume if you were able to check for codes the check engine light works. (Meaning the ECU is powering on).

Do you know if you have spark?

The best way to check if the injectors are working is with a node light. They pulse too fast for most multimeters to register.

My injector's are loud enough to hear with the hood up.

Did you trace the wires?
Are all of your injector's not powering up?

If I am not mistaken they are on three different sets of wires from three different pinouts 10,20,and 30 . They are 1-4,2-6,3-5 . So I would assume that if all are bad then it is your ecu or a ground. But that is just an assumption.See if any other things are getting 12v from them. I know when I wired the x90 harness I had 12v going to crank, cam, iacv, all coming and going from the same wires.

Did you contact Mark at PSI like I told you too. Guy is like fucking rainman with this shit.

Jono - I will get a node light today and check it, and I will check for spark as well

mattsplatt- I never got the message to contact mark at PSI, inbox must be full, how do I find him, just google PSI?

Thanks for helping guys, always a bummer after so much work it won't start!

Oh ya, I read a post were the main relay was not turning on and he had to make a jumper from mrelay to igsw on the ecu side, and then his injectors worked and car fired right up. How do I check to see if my relay is working properly?

today i tested all the injectors with a noid test light and they are working, also tested for spark and thats good as well!!!!

so... i guess i will do the 12v mod and instsall my walbro and a new fuel filter to see if that works.

its crazy there is no fuel inside the cylinders or on the spark plugs and there is fuel in the line thats hooked to the fpr. my guess is that there is just not enough pressure to push the gas through the injectors.

what do you guys think?

i got it running! did the 12v mod and walbro pump and it fired right up.

only thing is i had a ton of oil come out on the turbo side, i think when i had to remove the turbos to install the y-pipe i did not get a good seal on the oil line to the turbo, so i need to go back and find out whats up!

thanks for all the help fellas

put in a new starter from driftmotion and it starts perfect now, no more slipping:) to get the top bolt off i went from the top of the engine and used a realy long handle socket wrench. installing had to use bolts on the back because there starter was not threaded, just used alittle gasket maker on the back of the bolts the night before to hold them in place and then was able to screw them all the way down and then put a wrench on the back and tightend it up real good.
