so tonight i was driving home, battery light comes on and within 30min the voltage dropped from 14 down to 7.... all connections/wires look good. i didnt do the swap so dont blame me but i took the fuse box cover off to take a look at the alternator fuse....the guy who did the swap jumped the connectors with a wire...plastic is melted and the box cover has some meltage going on too so it does get hot.
could someone tell me whats going on? is the alternator going out? if had alts go out in other cars and they just died instantly, no a slow drain. im a little clueless

Got a new alt on and battery tested and charged. Voltage is now I'd say 11.8ish. Took it for a short drive and kinda goes up to 12.4ish then down to 11.2-3. Obviously goes down some when I turn on lights/fan/etc. Then turn signals the voltage drops then goes up then drops as the blinker is going.

Anyone have anything???

Look into the wiring ASAP. Do not go on long drive, short drive, or even drive it. Source out what is going wrong with those wires and why things are melting. IF you do not at least LOOK into it and see if everything is wired up properly. You are going to have a fire and cry about a burnt supra. So please, look into the issue.

Also note during the swap, the three alt control wires would have been extended from the fuse box area. The large gauge, charge wire would have also been extended. These wires need to be traced and verified.

I was checking wires and one big wire coming out of the fuse box and going over to the harness where the alt is came off, I put it back on and it's still not charging

Check your grounds! its always usually something simple. My car was parked for about 1 month after driving for 4 and the battery went dead. So i jumped it to drive it a few times and the volt meter is doing the same as yours, but with a new battery mine was corrected. But i still check all my grounds and connections! take your time and go over it!
