1JZ Rev. #1 or #2...?

I can't find info. on the difference between the new and old style vent. I know the difference with it connecting to the y-pipe (old style) and turbo A pipe (new style). Can you guys explain to me the advantages and changes between the two? Also did some come with non-cemeric turbo wheels? I think the cemeric had 8 fins and the new ones (Steel maybe?) have 10 fins? I ordered a front clip yesterday and want to know all the differences. Please give me some info. Thanks!

I take it that yur clip is a 1j JZA70 if it is than its going to come with twin parrell turbines and yes they r cemeric material which is weaker than steel turbines. Thats y from time to time u hear about 1j twins blowing out based on that reasoning. 2j twins r steel thats y they can push close to 500hps.

I disagree.

Out of all the blown turbos threads and posts made by 1JZ people, maybe 1 out of 4 actually had shattered or broken turbines and that's being generous still I think. The rest of the blown turbos are always the oil seals, not the ceramic turbine.

I've had 3 sets of blown CT12As. None of them were because of failed turbines.

I also disagree with the part about 2J twins making 500hp because of them being steel. Sure, it may help them sustain the boost pressure needed to hit that high number longer for a longer time but not forever and people get blown CT12Bs as well. 500hp isn't very likely for 99% of people. 400-450hp is the average BPU 2J.

I'd love to help out but right now I'm so confused with your post. What do you mean about Turbo-A pipe on a 1J?

Yea the old motor vents to the intake y-pipe and the new ones go to the a-turbo pipe. I just want to know the differences in the motors with old and new venting style. If there is one?

there are no real differences i think, just a better design. replace the PCV valve for Ver 1 and be ok.

Yea I assumed you guys just didn't know the difference sorry for the confusion. So which one is better Ver. 1 or 2?
