So it's that time of year again when car gets a makeover and engine gets a refresh

I'll keep this short and simple. Need some tips

I know the 1jz is good for like 700hp but I only plan on running like 450 tops

Compression is good on engine

I'm just looking for tips and advice on what to change

I was thinking 2jz waterpump , oem oil pump. Oem Timing belt, oem headgasket and arp headstuds

I alrwsdy have my turbo set up that I have been running this year. Apexi IHI. 67mm turbo. Hks wastegate. I got all that covered. Thinking about getting 550cc injectors

Then a power fc is going to run it all

I really dont know what kind of power I can expect to run

Engine is stock as far as I know except for hks 264 intake and exhaust cams

Already got Orc super single clutch

I'm going to do seals and such like front and rear main. Fuel delivery will be taken care of with a 255 lph fuel pump and a aeromotive fpr

Any suggestions for fuel pump as well. This is for a 1991 Toyota cresta

All written from my phone so excuse my mistakes

All replies are appreciated. Even directing me somewhere else for help

I'm away from home for 3 weeks on a job with no internet. Trying to spend it productive

Basically, I'd replace whatever you don't want to replace when the engine is IN the car. Coolant lines, and other rubber hoses, seem to be the worst for wear in an engine bay, so that would be my personal recommendation. Any pics of the Cresta? Or do you have a Cressida?

Cresta with mark 2 front end

but with the car, and engine im assuming, to have 150,000 kms on it. Should i be changing the headgasket? or should i just leave everything and focus on injectors and fuel pump and stuff like that. I mean im only 19 years old. Im not exactly made of money. Im going to get a safe a reliable tune since this will be a daily driver

Looks a hell of a lot cooler than the car I had when I was 19, I'd say you're doing just fine. As for the headgasket, not sure if you've ever torn down a 1j before, but they have a steel headgasket from the factory. That's not to say they can't or won't blow, I have seen that happen. As a maintenance gasket though? I'd focus on other things... like I said, rubber that's going on 20 years old by now, is bound to be rotted, soft, and ripe to blow at any moment, ask me how I know... ;)

A big thing on JZ engines is the valve stem seals hardening up and leaking or falling off the guide after 100,000 miles or so. My "45,000 mile" motor had really bad ones. I've been told to skip the OEM ones, as the aftermarket are better in this case. You want ones made of Viton. I used Felpro on my motor and they worked fine, but I see Supertech makes them too, and for less money.

Do a search on this, there's a few good write-ups about it that say what tools to get, as you'll need a few special ones.

thanks guys. yeah the rubber will be replaced and anything else i see. Ill be able to see more when i finally pull engine. which i can't do till i got shop. UGH.

The only engine ive had semi apart is a 7m and it was to change a..........you got it, headgasket.

My car is cam'd. so i would hope they changed the springs and valves and such. but i doubt it. Ill have valve covers off at the very least, so i can see whats up.
