Its the way FCD works that is the problem. Heres a quick explanation. Your MAP sensor is telling your computer how much air is going in your engine, and it reads on a 0-5v scale.
Lets say, on stock boost you hit fuel cut around 4.5v (total guess) and for you thats only 14psi. What the FCD will do is clamp the signal right before you hit that 4.5v. So that means you could boost to 20psi if you wanted. The problem with that is your computer doesn't know that your at 20psi, it thinks your still at 14psi. Now your running lean, because you have no safety net (which is what the fuel cut is for).

It should be noted, that once you slap in bigger injectors and get a good tune, your fuel cut will be raised significantly.

not only that but with the SAFC tuned you will raise your fuel cut anyways so you'll basically be buying two things that do the SAME thing

550's, 62-1, full 3 inch exhaust, IC, IC piping, Walbro, and MAYBE and AFPR (not REALLY needed though)

Obviously I have made a total school boy error, I'm assuming the safc is the one to keep and get rid of the fcd?

But this sort of setup with a tune is safe for the horsepower I'm looking for?

Where would I source the 550cc injectors from?, would the be direct replacement?

yes keep the SAFC not the FCD

yes it will work PERFECT for your HP goal

550's can be had from the MKIV but you'll need a 7M resistor pack as well.

or you can buy some from Stores online and ebay.

the cooling system shoudn't need to be upgraded and the 1jz has a built in oiler cooler. if your hp goals are 400hp a upgraded ct26 w/ the driftmotion manifold adaptors should do it

I have a friend who runs about 700whp on his MKIV. He's taken that thing up over 175mph on the track, and has not yet needed an afermarket oil cooler.

I have data logs of my 1JZ on the dyno. Even with stock radiator, and stock hydrofan, the coolant temperatures didn't budge a single degree during the run.

IMO, aftermarket oil coolers are a waste of money on a JZ. An aluminum radiator may be a worthwhile investment, but I wouldn't bother until you notice your temperature gauge reading higher then normal.
