I can either get a 1jzgte swap for 1300 or a 2jzgte for 1500. 1jz is a 5 speed and 2jz is a 6 speed and both come with everything. How much harder is the 2jz swap? I know that both swaps aren't going to be easy into my 87 NA, but I wanted to get your opinions before committing to anything.

First, where are you getting a 2JZ w/ 6spd for 1500? The transmission alone goes for double that.

Second. The decision is up to you as it is all about preference.

The facts are, the swaps are very similar, but wiring for the 2JZ can be more challenging than that for a 1JZ.
In either case I'd recommend using the R154 5 spd transmission over the 6 spd because of cost, gearing, and fitment.

You'll also want an LSD if you don't already have one. Thats one thing you might miss out on being N/A.

If you can really get them that cheap, buy both engines. Use the 1JZ, and part out the 2JZ. Take the money from the parted out 2JZ and build the 1JZ. Like somebody said before, the V160 is worth about double that.

Worst advice ever.

Buy the 2jz, sell the transmission and do the 5speed setup, and have a free 2jz swap. Just like IJ said, 3L.. theres no replacment for displacment.

make sure it actually comes with the transmission... they sell the transmissions alone for over 3k used and the price of a mkiv in japan to scrap is not cheap (12k+ compared to a soarer's 1k+ and a mkiii's 2k+ or so) always buy from a seller where you know exactly what you are getting and reputable... i just spent the past 3 months dealing with the wrong 1jz engine being shipped to me and it would suck if you got sent a 2jz that, although 1500 is not very bad, it could have no transmission no ignitor no ecu no harness.

If they are both seriously that cheap buy both use the 1JZ engine mounts & 5speed unless you could find a 3.25 LSD go 6speed but those both complete for that price they are prob. HOT:evil5:

I dont think you could even buy a stolen supra for less then 7K$
