So the clip should be here pretty soon (swapping to a '88) and I was wondering what upgrades are good for starters? I have 4 drilled/slotted rotors waiting to be put on (mine are warped), planning on getting some tein flex + edfc controller.

I have read that a good and somewhat cheap upgrade is to replace the stock y-pipe and downpipe. So I'm thinking about getting the downpipe/y-pipe combo from 935ms. Would it be ok to just install that part (it's 3" iirc) and then bolt it onto the remaining stock exhaust system that is coming with the clip?

Any input is appreciated :D

I would suggest you go ahead and get the downpipe/y-pipe combo.... and put it on since it's practically impossible to do with the engine in the car. when you have the piece in your hand and compare the stock y-pipe, you'll instantly realize you made the right choice!

Where did you get your clip from? I got mine from Jarco and it didn't include the cat back exhaust, just the downpipe.

and yeah, you could do that....I would still be relieving a little pressure behind the turbos, but I'd wait on the coilovers and just go ahead and get a full 3" exhaust system...you'll be happy you did. (but that's just personal opinion!)

Hm well I got mine from jarco the other day and they didnt give me exhaust like I thought they would...Oh well, I guess I'll have to hold off on coilovers :( . Either that or use the exhaust that's on my n/a lol.. What diameter would you suggest for exhaust? 3" I assume? Just curious but whats the diameter of stock n/a pipes?

yeah, you're definitely gonna wanna go 3", but that should be too hard since 99% of the exhausts for a turbo supra are at least 3"

from my own experience, do some research before you buy your exhaust...there is more to be concerned with than just flow and sound. for example I had an HKS cat back that used to sit pretty close to the ground. I just figured it was a problem with all big exhausts., well there came a need for me to get something different. I made my decision and got the RSR exhaust and I love it., not only that, but it is designed well and has much more ground clearance than my HKS system did and it's pretty much a straight shot to the back of the car.

so try to think of all angles before purchasing an exhaust. This board has a section specifically for product reviews and I'm sure you can find some helpful information in there.
