What are some easy mods to do to the 1jz to get a bit more power but not affect the daily driving. I might try to get a 1jz that is in great running shape, but it is stock. It has a downpipe and a hks intake along with a nice 3 inch back exausth. So my question is that can i do that isn't to out there to get another 20-50hp. i know this is some what a wide open question but thought i would see where it got me.

afpr kit and electronic boost controller and safc or afc neo. that run about 1k with tuning. thats what i got now, just gotta get it tuned!

i bought a afpr kit set it for 35-40psi with vacum unplugged, bought a afc neo and greddy profec type-s ebc. $260+$275+$300=$835 tuning will run like 150-200 i think.

Reduce weight especialy to drivetrain.
Like under drive pullys, Flywheel, one piece aluminum drive shaft, Light weight wheels.
If using stock twins it doesnt hurt to have a 4.30LSD adds a little more fun to our torqueless engines.

Maybe ECU upgrades to boost your boost to ~12-14#s RPMS deffence speed limits.
ECU to use if you plan to stay under ~500hp mines, blitz, sard, Tech tom
If you plan more then 500HP like single turbo upgrade just go streight for standalone managment like stinger.
Nothing helps the 1JZGTE more then getting your V-Tec tunned right J/K.

FMIC might get a little better of a cooler charge in there.

The "y" pipe 3"plumbing and cat delete with intake is a good first start!

What about going up to 2jz injectors, and if i do that will i have to use a 2jz map?

2jz map as in map sensor? no i don't think so. but unless you're using the jdm 2jz injectors you'll need the resistor box too if i'm not mistaken to run them.

What kinda of gains can i look for with a mapped "tuned" ecu. compared to doing the safc of maftpro set up

It all depends on who does the tuning, what SAFC you use (I use the latest and greatest, the SAFC NEO), and what ECU you are refering to. A Mine's or Blitz will add 20+ HP on a healthy motor (depending on mods).

Also, cams are a nice upgrade (should have mine shortly).

Not really wanting to mess with the motor that much to change cams. And i would like not to hack up much of the wiring i might just lookin to a tuned ecu. what is the highest but also safe boost you go one.

^^ 15 psi would be safe.

Best bang for the buck IMO is an intercooler and hard pipes and you would gain an easy 20 plus RWHP. Y pipe is another easy add on.

Ypipe isn't so easy..............but it will add horsepower.

It might be easy for a mechanical genius like the one and only Upgraded supra.......my favorite Canadian in the whole entire world..........:biglaugh:

Thanks guys i think you all are on the right page with what i was asking. How hard is it to find a blitz ecu i know the ones for the 7m are about worth their weigh in gold. So i'm guess one for a 1jz is the same case?
