What size tool do you need to take the 1jz bolts out of the head. It looks like a twelve point something. It's ten millimeter I think. Where can I get one and what is it called. I'm doing the 1jz swap and decided to have my head reworked while the engine is out. Actually I was going to replace the head gasket and decided to have the head rebuilt. Just thought it was a good idea to do it right the first time. Any help would be appreciated........Thanks.

I often feel the same way when I post here. But all it is that alot of gys in this forum are up in age so they need there sleep:icon_razz As far as the answer to your question. I am picking up my motor today and i'm going to race build my head. Even if I was'nt going to race build, I would still redue the valve seats ans seals. If I was you I would check the bearings and things of that nature.

I'm just going to have the head rebuilt and let them install my new cams that I'm getting. That way if there's any shimming to do, they can do it. If I had to rebuild it myself, it would never run again.............lol

And, for the record, I am one of the old guys, but I don't need much sleep.......:icon_bigg

12mm 12 point star?..... My friend bought one in a set for me today. Worked well! I think they sell them at any Autoparts store (I think it was Autozone).

OMG, the crap I found in my cylinders after pulling the head today!!! SO much carbon, I should post pics, but dayum, it's fugly in there! Clean now though....

Here you go :)
Part number W1395
4 piece Serrated Wrench Set
12 pt. Tripple Square.

The 12mm in there worked perfect. You can probably find it by itself somewhere too. Good luck!

nah, I think he's afraid of making too much power ;)

And so is everyone else in his neighborhood, hehehe

If only I had a need for more power. You know as well as I do that it doesn't take a rocket to outrun a mustang GT. What else is there here to race against? I want my car to be quick rather than fast.................lol

How quick are the GTO's? I haven't had the pleasure. That's what I need is more motivation to make mine faster. I just don't have any motivation I guess. Luckily I'm the King of The Walk around here....................lol

Did you see the thread about the fuel rail I posted?

Jay, you just need to get all your stuff in and put it together and stop changing your mind ;)

I think you're going for 500RWHP and you're just not telling me, lol.

First it was the turbo, then the cams, now the fuel... Soon you'll be installing dual walbro's and going standalone...........................j/k

Yeah my friend's GTO here lays down 48XRWHP on a 100 shot. My target for low boost ;)

There's a guy in Jasper that has a machine shop. He's going to resurface and rebuild my head for one milllllion dollars. Actually he's doing it for one hundred dollars. I'm going to let him install my new cams while he's rebuilding the head. I hope I don't find alot of sludge in my block like you did Jeff.

I'm not shooting for 500rwhp. I will be lucky to make 400. My plans are still as follows:
272 small core cams
MKIV550 injectors
Either a 60-1 or a T-61 turbo
Walbro 255 fp
aeromotive fpr
HKS adjustable cam gears
Tial bov
2.5" aluminum ic pipes
Koyo Racing Radiator
Larger intercooler
Getting my engine bay painted
Getting my turbo A-duct installed
Had my intake and other parts sandblasted
Machined my flywheel already
Using my clutch I already had, only 1000 miles at the most on it
That's pretty much it. I'll start putting it together in about a week hopefully.

Cams are so cool ;)

My head's going to the shop today with everything.

That's cool you're going turbo A duct. I haven't seen or heard of any in AL with them.

Nah, couldn't be as bad as mine. My carbon was growing towards the center of the piston, lol.
