hi i am new and i have a 89 supra and my 7m is pretty much done for..
so i am thinkin of putting in a 1JZ-GTE vvti single turbo instead of the
1JZ-GTE.. simple becomes turbo doesnt have to spool as much since its single
and the tq comes at 2400 rpms which makes the power come faster..
has anyone experienced this swap or does anyone have a vvti in there supra?
and does anyone know how much money i would be lookin at here?
thanks

Nope only VVTI I dealt with was my buddyies 2JZ-GTE VVTI on his 98 tt, but that thing became a hassle when it came to messing with the head, he opted to sell his vvti head and switch to a standard JZ head that was race prepped cost a lot but boy did it breath

When you swap the 1JZ VVT-i you will need a complete standalone EMS at least. The stock ECU needs all the sensors for the traction control. So it's difficult to swap a VVT-i engine in a car without traction control.

I thought about it too, but skipped. Normal 1JZ is just fine for me. Buy a JZX100 Mark II if you want to drive a 1JZ VVT-i, a much better car at all :naughty:

If you want to do the install, we have a real nice vvti 1j for you and I can offer a special price if you will post pics on SM while you do the install. We will offer phone tech support too. It has a complete harness and ecu, ignitor and afm. We have not done it yet because we could not find good wiring diagrams for it, but otherwise the install should not be all that bad. You will need a mid sump oil pan(vvti is front sump), custom dp (its different then non-vvti), power steering line(in stock), 1jz bellhousing/flywheel, either BIC or jza70 motor mount brackets, and a few other things. You can surely make the vvti work with stock harness and without traction control.

My mate in Sydney has done the wiring for a VVTI into a Cressida and has worked it all out. Said it is not that hard. I have driven it and it is cool.
I want one for my own supra BUT they are almost unobtainable in Australia and when they do come in they seem to be dearer that a 2j and more than double the non vvti 1j!!!!!!! Some things in life are just not fair.
I would jump at the idea of getting a good deal for one.

You will need the sump from a jza supra, either type 70 or 80. The engine mounts may be different on the VVTI. I know they are different on the
2ZVVTI Something to do with the pressure lines to the head.
If you use a JZX100 front cut, all that will be there except the correct sump.

He wants your SSN? I don't understand that, but you would want to contact customs yourself and get the info. So you paid for it and they are shipping it to you directly from overseas? Don't give anyone your social security number, especially someone overseas that has all your credit card info.

you could always respond to my pm's and emails today so i could hurry it up

you'd have it already.....

and yes you need a 1jz rear sump, and i'd use the BIC mounts to get it installed.
