I apologize in advance if I am posting this in the wrong section..
I am considering a swap for my 90 turbo
I was thinking a 1JZ-GTE
If someone could give me some advice on the difficulty of the swap or maybe a different platform all together?

Swap isn't difficult at all if you have all the correct parts and wiring harness converted.

Ok. If I bought the full swap (engine trans ecu and engine harness) ill be set? I've done plenty of swaps although most were honda so I'm just trying to get an idea here

i just finished my 1j swap and it wasn't hard at all once the harness is converted. i bought a engine, harness, ecu, ignitor, and map sensor from driftmotion for $2100 but i already had the trans. after that there's a lot of little things you need like the high press. power steering line either custom or driftmotion or 2j( i think), also you need to figure out weather your gonna use the hydro fan setup or if you want a e-fan or mechanical if you go with the e-fan/mechanical you will need a 2j water pump and pulley. also you will want to replace all the vacuum lines and all the water and oil lines to prevent any leaks later. i no there's a lot more but thats the basics of it. im not sure what your planning for a budget for your swap but i would suggest around $6000 i only say this cuz i only allotted $4000 and i had to wait in the middle of my swap to save up some money to buy the remaining parts.

Every time I read that it's an easy swap, I remember all of threads concerning folks have trouble with various things.. that being said, it's not impossible, and the mechanical side of the swap isn't too bad.

Mechanically, easy. Electrically, considering I'm *not at all* good with electrical and wiring, difficult. That said, it's a Supra motor going into another Supra, can't go too wrong. :)

it wasn't hard to do the actual swap is what i meant. i had the harness converted by dr tweak so i didnt hafta deal with the wiring part other than the fuel pump mod and the alternator.

Dr. Tweak definitely makes life easier, after that its all nuts and bolts... and cash. Expect to spend an easy 5K, for a stock swap.

Oh, and if you're sticking with stock twins, replace that crappy stock y-pipe BEFORE you put the engine in. ;)

Aside from that, just change anything that's rubber on the engine before putting it in. Makes life much more enjoyable than trying to figure out what's leaking where after the fact.

Thanks for all of your input guys. im still teeter-toddering between a 1J and just building my 7MGTE. At least i wont have to deal with any shit putting it back in or worrying if it will have some kind of hiccup when im 2 hours away from home lol. Other than the engine Q does anyone know of a company that makes wide body quarters???? ive found kaze aerocraft (japanese site and company) id buy it through them if i knew what the hell the description uder the pics said! :rant2:

Check the group buy section for a thread about wide body fenders, Rodel started a thread in there, good info and links to where you can get the Kaze fenders made by Shine Auto Project. ;)
