My car started acting up again the other day doing the same thing as when the Caps blew in it. When opening up the ECU I found that the diodes on the side near where there are two caps there are five in a row the middle one had been hot and upon testing with my Diode tester it tested bad. I was wondering if anyone knew what size and type of diode they are it says 42 R on it but that type doesnt cross reference to anything. Any help would be a appreciated.

Diode tester?

what kind?

To test them good you must at least lift one leg.

I perfer Huntron Tracker to validate the PN or NP junction.

Some simple reverse engineering techniques will give you about the right part number if they are not labled.

Meaning gettting a good ecu reading the voltages in the circuit around the diode then taking the diodes off injecting around the same voltages and plot the thresh hold and break down voltages it is prob 1/8th watt or 1/4 based on size you could figure that out.

I tested them with my Fluke on the diode setting. The problem is out where I live there isnt many people with 1JZ ECU's unless I can find a guy in DFW Supras to let me borrow his which is highly unlikely.
