Trust me when I say that your stock Y-pipe *is* the restriction in the stock twin setup. Well, aside from the turbos themselves, but that y-pipe flows like crap compared to the separated style of the aftermarket units. Unfortunately the China-man/ebay setup isn't very good quality, and the steel is thin, but if you can deal with that, I'd recommend going that route. Then again, if the engine is in the car already, you have a headache on your hands if you're gonna replace the y-pipe in the car. ;)

That said, the stock downpipe on my 1j wasn't all that bad. Piping diameter was impressive for a stock setup, but F that y-pipe.

Although, looking at your username leads me to believe this isn't going into a Supra... Either way, the aftermarket y-pipes are 2 piece. :)

I hate to spend money on a y-pipe/downpipe combo in case I upgrade in the future to single.

Yeah, this is going into a BMW so I am not sure even buying an existing downpipe if it will work with my setup.
