Does anyone have a pic of the inside of a 1JZ dizzy? Or know how many teeth and sensors there are? Thanks in advance.

not sure what u mean but 1jz dont have a distributor they have a crank postioning sensors. it tells the coil packs to fire and when.Supra5MGTE said:

My MicroTech wiring diagram says 1JZ CPS/dizzy... trying to figure out what a 1JZ CPS has inside.
The CPS is nothing but a sensor with some form of magnetic pickup. There are no teeths on it.
The Crank angle sensor, fits near the crankshaft, and then it has two cam position sensors, and both are smooth/about 1inch cylindrical devise, also maybe some form of magnetic pick detecting the cam lobe angle.
Neither of them have any teeths or grooves...

yup..they sure do....but the 1jz has a direct ignition system, with an igniter and the cam and cranks sensors does the rest.
well the 7mgte has a distributorless ignition system too. but it still uses a CPS, with teeth and pickups all inside it. Trying to figure out what kind of a sensor set up my MicroTech needs. the bastards can't come out and tell me... it's looking for 1 trigger every 720* of crank... or something like that. MicroTech is a PITA to deal with.
I have a 5M. Currently have a 5M dizzy being used as a CPS. But I don't think it's working the way it should... b/c I'm running a 7mgte Coil pack so that's a waste spark set up... and my standalone has 6 coil trigger wires... and it's configured for "sequential" ignition fire. my 5M dizzy has a 24/2 wheels in it and I think I have to shave 1 of the 2 teeth off so it'll get trigger only every 720* rather than every 360*. That way it'll have a "home" trigger on #1 TDC COmpression rather than every time the crank goes around to 0*. That just says the crank is at 0*. doesn't tell me or the ECU if it's at TDC Compr or Exh. or what.
If the 1jz is the same as 2j. The crank (reference) trigger wheel has 12 teeth and the cam (sync) has 2 at 180 deg. But there are two of these in the cam although with my motec, I only need to use one of them.
With my 7m ran by motec, I'm using the stock cps but only using one of the pick ups (there are 2 at 180 degrees) It is a 24 tooth trigger. I didn't do any modification to it except I'm not using one of the wires.

Update: I shaved 1 of the 2 teeth off my 5M dizzy. and wired up all 6 coil triggers.. so I have 2 triggers per coil. Runs SOOOOO MUCH BETTER now! and I've gone on to find my #6 720CC injector is Dead. Thanks for the help guys. jt2ma71- Like your 7mgte CPS... now I'm getting 1 trigger for every 720* of crank unlike before i was getting A trigger every 360* of crank. So happy now.. thanks everyonel.
