I want to know what it will take to get a 1jz to a daily driving 400HP with a single turbo.

Ill most likely want to do cams as well so a cam suggestion on lift/duration would be appreciated.

I would like to know all associated parts for the motor, plus a turbo size, most likely using a bullseye turbo.

Thanks guys, glad to be here and learn from you guys.

a 1jz, big single, supporting mods, and a tune

Looking for some help on exactly what is needed.

I figured
- 440 CC Injectors from a 2jz
- Mishimoto FMIC
- Turbo ( size needed )
- Fuel system will be comprised of a Fuel Lab pump and regulator
- Some port work on the head will most likely be done
- ECU - Should i go with a stand alone unit or just use a 1jz unit ?

Is there anything else im missing ?

Injectors 550cc minimum! 80% duty max is what you want to get out of injectors, yea you can get 400 on 440's but thats pushing them hard.
61mm turob .68 a/r
walbro and AFPR
SAFC
Wideband
Exhaust Manifold
3" Exhaust

Thats it.

2-3K Getting deals here and there is very do able. If you have the swap already. If your just creating this just to see what it takes as you mention a 7MGTE and it capability i'd assume you still have that.

What is an SAFC ?

I havent bought the car yet, the car im looking at is an 87 Non turbo, targa top white w/ blue interior, 50K on rebuilt motor.

I am a dealer for a lot of companies. Exhaust/manifold would be built in house, dealer cost on gauges, dealer cost on fuel system, sponsor cost on turbo.

The biggest thing would be like the injectors and specialty parts but i plan on getting hooked up through more companies as i break into this side of the business. My family runs an auto/harley/diesel shop in Va here but i personally am unfamiliar with these motors so i want to learn for my self. Im 19.

Whats your budget?

Dont really have a budget, just trying to stay relatively cheap. I figured maybe 2-3K would get it done.

So it is safe to say 2-3K is your budget.

Use the 7M. There is no way you will get a JZ at that price.

1J swaps will add up quick, especially with a single on it. I would say you could get it all done for maybe 5k if you get deals on everything. I agree that you should get a SAFC and stick with the stock ecu for now with your low budget.

^ I'm with these guys, not going to happen for 3k. But your welcome to give it a try.
Have you looked through the swap threads? There are a lot of parts you need to source individually, if you dont go the "imported motorset" route.

How much is the car your looking at?

Car is $2800.

I cant find anything decent in my area that is a Targa.

Ill build the 7m, i just dont want to make a paper weight with the 7m trying to get to 400hp.

for only making 400 hp you are much better off going the 7m route. As long as you build it correctly with supporting mods those engines don't have a problem with that horsepower. The 1jz takes a lot of time and money, not to mention the headaches that are sure to come with it installing it (also if you want parts for those engines expect to wait a week or so to get them because you won't find many parts in stores. Only parts that are similar between the 1 and 2j). Now if the 400 is only a stepping stone and you are wanting to make over 500 than go the 1jz route. Take this into consideration with OnejArpus's reply. Those are the minimum on top of what is needed to get that engine in as well. Also, like what everyone else was saying, you will be spending over 3k for a 1jz swap (if you find a way to do it under you are either running a lot of cheap parts or crazy good and finding parts for cheap).
