Bad = 90% chance.

If your car is doing 8 volts at idle, it's going to run like crap. You need at least 13. Idle should be hovering around 13.2 or greater.

7M will not fit. Is yours a round plug? If so, pick up a 92-94 SC300 alternator, its better.

Also.. 5% chance it's a slipping belt, and 20% chance it's a wiring issue.

do yourself a favor if/when you pick up your new altenator. Have them check the rebuilt unit before you go through the trouble of installing it. I didn't & the rebuilt alt was bad. Doing something twice suxes....

At least it's a part you can swap put in 5 mins.

Theres places that rebuild alts. If yours is an original factory toyota unit, i'd get it serviced. It's alot better then the crap you get at autozone. Both cost about the same

ima take a look at it today it might be a wiring issue cause any time i hit a bump the lights (interior and outer) flickered. Hopefully its just loose wiring. It was working fine when i went to ne2k7 and all the sudden when i came back home the rpm needle went up and down and the sound it makes is like when an o2 sensor is bad. btw i do have the fcon installed.

If you have an under pully kit sometimes idle voltage can be to low but i dunno if you have a kit on your car. Upgrading the amperage rating on your alternator will help prevent that though.

If you find an alternator from a 2jzge vvti you are in business. I kept mines since I had a vvti GE.
Plus they have a tab more amps.
