Doesn't seem like anything too major but wanted to post and ask since I have no manual to troubleshoot from.
1) Car dies sometimes when I slow down to a stop-not very often does not do it when.when I throw up a rev or it's just idleing.
2) noise from behind timing cover(not coming from engine), slight inconsistent knocking noise at idle, my it sounded like plastic, not metal just tapping under the timing cover, goes away after 600-700 rpm
3) Today it was cutting out at full throttle at higher rpms...slight sputtering a bit around 4500-5500 and then continuing to accelerate. when I was trying to show my this it started running hot(3 lines below red) when I stopped after puching it through 3rd gear. Put the heater on and it went back down to normal also a little blue smoke, it was hot as shit today also and it seemed the heat was making my car run worse.
I CHECKED THE PLUGS AND they were not that bad none were blackened or damaged, all were firing. THEY WERE GAPPED AT .040 I gapped them down to .025-my mechanic gave my this number.
on the way home after regapping the plugs it did not cutout like that anymore but did cutout completely for a split second in 3rd gear at 5500rpm but the kept going smoothly up to 6500<-that felt like fuel cut.
ON THE WAY HOME...NOTHING no smoke no overheating smooth at full throttle cept for 3rd gear cutout which felt like fuel cut.
ANY INPUT ON ANY OF THIS SHIT WOULD BE COOL. THANKS
1JZ Swapped by mechanic 2 weeks ago, stock everything.
No Airflow sensor, just straight filter

Where in Northbay are you ?
Cut out and idling problem could be a loose vacum hose. Check all of them since they can pop off when boosting hard.
Check the one at the BOV as well.
Check the intercooler piping as they may be loose casuing boost leak.

1jz does not have airflow sensor, only a map sensor.

have you taken off the top timing cover to try and get a look in there? i don't know what it is but if i heard a noise from there that would be the first place i would look. Maybe a damaged timing belt, possibly it's slipping and the engine keeps cutting due to bad timing? maybe the tensioner is loose and the timing belt is to slack?

sorry i couldn't be of more help but you should check it out as well

I had the Center cover off (the piece over the spark plugs) and the top timing cover seemed to be moving a bit and the noise was changing when I pulled the plastic away. My mechanic friend did say itsounded like a loose tensioner arm/pulley maybe How would I get that top cover off? BTW timing does not seem to be off...but maybe.

You always always always always do a timing belt package including tensioners when doing any kind of swap. Along with seals etc... but check your belt over really good, and make sure you have the proper coolant level in your resevior.. oh yeah and dont use water for coolant if you are.

the cover comes off with a few bolts 10mm on the sides of it. To get to everything will take a bit more work, you will need to take the belt off and the crank pulley then you can get the lower cover off to change the tensioner and timing belt

Okay...not using water for my coolant... the mechanic who put in my engine said the timing belt assembly looked okay maybe I'll change it anyway. I'm also getting blue smoke ONLY sometimes NOT all the time...Turbo Seals? I fucking hope not. Not replacing turbo seals ever them on the CT-12s How much $ and How much of a bitch is it? I've heard it sucks.
