What is a direct replacement for this? I have the metal one and the bearing is bad. I assumed a supra pulley would be the same but it is not. Where can I find a 1JZ pulley or what does it cross reference with?

2JZ tensioner includes a metal wheel versus plastic, but it is the same piece for the most part and interchangeable.. better to install/have a new bearing installed into the one you have provided it's the correct part.

Mine came off an Aristo motor btw, MKIV is the same.

My 1JZ's pulley wheel is metal and the 2JZ pulley wheel is not the same. I have them both right now and they are def different. The bushing inside might be the same but that would require punching out the 2JZ's and installing it into my 1JZ pulley wheel without damaging the bearing.

Note how the 2J's face is flat then drops 90 degress downward whereas the 1J's gradually declines. If you notice the pulley washer that hold the bushing in place it would not work on a 2J pulley because it would clamp down on the pulley instead of just like bearing like on the 1J's pulley.

I have. The washer sits on the lip of the 2J pulley instead of the bearing so when you tighten it, it clamps down on the pulley and not the bearing. That of course means it is bolted down and does not spin

Possibly. If a smaller random washer is the tried and true fix then yes. If not, I want to know the correct way and part.

Well you can get the correct washer off a 2jz tensioner.

A simple flat washer will work just as well tho.

Okay. I'd like to calmly point out that the one on the right is a factory 2JZ idler pulley (the 1JZ units are plastic on all versions I've seen and have worked on). Someone likely changed the part before your time with the motor. As for the one on the left, I've never seen a JZ pulley that looked like that.

Good thread to read on the subject: http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?625361-Serpentine-Tensioner-Pulley and the part you have pictured above is listed in the thread and discussed. Also, according to the folks in that thread, it's the auto 2J that has the metal pulley, which may explain why the Aristo motors have it, though it makes me wonder about the N/A motors (not that it matters).

link to a low mileage one being sold on ebay that happened to come up on google whilst searching for pics: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2JZ-BELT-IDLER-TENSIONER-PULLEY-SUPRA-TURBO-IS300-GS300-/150613292328

OE 2JZ pulley shown on these motors:

^ Yup, that is it on the 2J. Clearly the one that I have pictured on the left is the wrong part for a Supra then. Good find

I went ahead and picked up that one from ebay.
