-What are the benefits of using the 2jz head on a 1jz?
-When I do this what head gasket should be used, and which arp head studs should be used the 1jz or 2jz specific set?
-Are the 2jz intake manifold, or stock twins compatable wiht or any different than the 1jz's?

-Also is there any difference in the internals, is the 1jz the same as the 2jz, or does it just have a shorter stroke?

Thanks
Sam

Metal depends on compression for thickness. Use the head bolts for the head not the block to be safe unsure on length diffences.

The engine is ~1.5" hight different along with the stroke.

So internally wise, is a 1jz the same as a 2jz just a shorter stoke? same pistons, crank? rods would obviously be shorter if its just a stoke length difference...

I was in the process of bolting a 2J-GE head onto a 1J block. Ran into several issues. Ill finish it eventually.

I really do not see anything wrong with doing this. The 2J-GTE head will work a lot better. More parts will fit it, use a 2J/1J harness or make your own. My whole point was to make a motor that I could spin to 9,000 with more flow than a 1J head, using parts I already had to keep the costs down.

Do it if you have the parts and let us know. Stock headgasket, stock head bolts. Not sure about the power steering or anything because I haven't looked at it, but I'm sure that's not going to be a huge problem. Easy fix.

what are the differences of 2jzgte vs the ge head? Isnt the head itself the same?

Are there any "flow" issues with the 1jz head or did you just want more?

The 2JZGTE cams are a slight upgrade for the 1JZGTE the 2JZGTE are 264s I think someone said 1JZGTE are ~224s in ~228s out Ideal all around cam would be anything between 264-272 some 272 custom grinds keep it non interference head which is very important for me!

There is a thread that explains how a machine shop must modify the cams to work.

The 2JZ-GE head is way different infact it doesnt have a FFIM so I wouldnt even waste my time with the head unless you bought a whole 2JZ-GE engine for $200(possible) and you want to add a turbo kit to it this would be a good budget car setup.

If I had the 2JZ-GTE head i would just get the 2JZ-GE block or 2JZ-GTE block to go with it.
I believe they have said somewhere the 2JZGTE stock bottom end max could go up to ~9000rpms The 1JZGTE bottom end is good for 9500-10000rpms.
With a valve job, port/polishing spring upgrade the 1JZGTE would scream endlessly.
