Hey guys so I just got my 3" exhaust done last thursday:icon_bigg, witch is the last thing i needed to do as far as bolt on mods go. Now im hitting what i think is fuel cut around 14 psi (stock twins). I just wana make sure before i go buy a FCD that this will get rid of my problem & will i need a walbro pump to, or just FCD should be good enough? Running 1jz on stockers, FMIC, Intake, dumps, 3" downpipe, and now full exhaust, no boost control stock pump. Wasnt having issuse before @11psi, but then again i did have my stock exhaust on there lol. :aigo:

Make sure your plugs are gapped correctly. I had a similar issue after replacing my y-pipe (oh how fun that was...), gapped the plugs to something like ~.28 or .028 (I forget exactly), and the problem went away. You shouldn't be hitting fuel cut until after 16psi on a 1j.

Wow really, ok I always though fuel cut came around there but ok ill check them tomorrow. I did notice a hesitation the other night after getting off full boost. But it happen like a 30sec latter after I got off full boost. But ill check the gap thanx

I added an FCD an AEM wideband and a manual boost control. Stock cut was around 14psi, after FCD Im running past that and with the wideband did a test run with the boost up to 20 and the stock injectors were putting out around 12 AFR so I have it running around 17 now. Gonna put some steel wheeled twins and 440's after I get a dyno run in then should be ok up to 20PSI.

Hey yall I have a quick question, so i was thinking of trowing a high flow cat back in there for 2 reasons. Number one the smell, its to strong of an odar ever since i got the 3" catless exhaust done, i feel like ima pass out when im in traffic lol. Second reason would be that it would creat backpressure. right? not sure kinda dumb at this but i think it would drop my boost a lil witch is exactly what i need right now. So if i get a high flow would this reduce my boost a bit? 1 or 2psi less thats what i think i need to prevent my car from hitting cut.

open for suggestions
thanks yall

Im not sure about the boost getting lower with a free flowing exhaust but if you are getting overcome by exhaust fumes then your liftback seal might need replacing. A small tear will allow fumes in.

Ok so I have enough cash to get the FCD now but iv been doing research and a lot of people don't think its a good think to have a FCD. Now I'm just confused I mean is it going to hurt my engine even though Im not raising the boost on it at all? just trying to avoid Fuel cut on the stock boost right? Idk what do you guys think i should do
please help

I applaud you for coming to the conclusion that the FCD sucks and is dangerous.
If you want to raise the boost semi safely, you need slightly larger injectors, and a tuning device. Then you can turn up the boost whatever % larger the injectors are.

Im doing a 1jzgte swap in my s13 240sx. Im kinda lost too on what I should do because there are so many mixed reviews. I have a turbonetics 68 trim, 560cc Injectors, apexi neo and stock ecu. Am I able to tune it to run right with this setup? I've searched and one person makes a convincing story that I can and another person says that i can't. Thanks for the help
