Just curious what (if any) the spec is for a 1J Flywheel?

Going to try to get mine machined tomorrow if I can get those darn 12 point head bolts out tonight.

Thanks.

When a flywheel develops wear, it is never out to the full diameter of the clutch surface.
So who ever cuts the flywheel can measure the step on the edge,
and be able to duplicate the step.

But a word to the wise,
measure it yourself, so that you know for sure, and......
be able to check it when the guy hands it back to you.

I have had stepped flywheels handed back to me that were flat (no step),
and I even had one handed back to me with the damn clutch surface below the bolt surface !
(idiot duplicated the worn out surface drop !)

With all that said, I beleave the step is .5mm (.020"),
but don't quote me on that.......

Thanks man. Lots of great ideas there! I think I am going to measure it out, see what happens and report back. I am pretty sure I can trust my machinist though.

Since I assume the flywheel comes from the factory at a step of .020, and after time naturally wares down, wouldn't it almost be impossible to machine it to the .020 spec without taking some meat out of where the pressure plate assy mounts?

Maybe I am thinking too far on this one...

Anyone?

P.S I think you are right with the .020 spec, it should be the same as a 7M flywheel, which IIRC is just like you said, .020. I really need to use my brain more.

*edit* Slight feeling I dont exactly get what "step" is. Time to see if google can teach such things.
