Going single......Im assuming it would be a good idea to replace the old manifold studs. Any recommendations? Does arp offer anything or just order new oem?

Any one ever have an issue reusing the stock studs? Particularly on a single turbo setup

i dont see why the stock ones would be bad. you should be able to reuse them. if not then i will get some new ones as well.....

I dont remember where i heard this but i think its safe to say that it would apply to most manifold studs....

Its like when you bend a paper clip back and fourth. Eventually it breaks. I've heard that if studs have been torqued down to much or too many times they stretch and loose strength..

Im more interested in finding a replacement incase a stud breaks. If there is a better replacement over oem then why not go with that?

It is like your head bolts you are really supposed to replace them every time you remove them. They are made to take a certain amount of tensile strength put against them but once they are stetched and heated up as much as the studs there get I would just order some replacements and replace them that way you know they are good.

I'm sorry, but that's just plain BS, they're nothing like head bolts.
Headbolts can be re-used about three to four times, no problem. However it does depend on why you removed the head though, if you suffered pre-ignition damage I would replace them; they did take quite some beating then. If you took your head off just to do a head job you can re-use them no problem.
Manifold studs, come on man, off course you can use them over and over again. It doesn't just break because it has been doing it's job and you gave it a bit of relaxing and then put it back to work again. It's just a stud made of steel which holds up it's strenght and shape better during heating than ordinairy steel, it's not a stretch-bolt or something.
Studs only need to keep the manifold in place. If you have some leakage after re-installing a mani just yank the nuts tighter.
The only reason I would replace a mani stud is if the thread was worn or damaged.

YOu can replace them if you want, but to compare Head bolts to manifold bolts are 2 completely different thing. All of the weight and inertia of your car pushes on the head like pushing away from the wall with your hands. The wall needs to be sturdy enough otherwise it will fall. Same goes with you head bolts, like the wall it needs to be sturdy, but the manifold only has exhaust blowing through it, and yes there is a level of pressure that it sustains but not to warrant having to replace them just because they've been used.
Trust me you can reuse them again and again.

I wasnt really trying to compare mani bolts to Head bolts. I have worked for three different car companies includeing Ford, Honda, and Chevy as a mechanic and with every engine rebuild the book on pretty much every car they have says to replace the head bolts not to reuse them. That being said I have also worked on cars that have had the mani studs back out and have to replaced so in this instance I would replace them. I was speaking from a personal standpoint I would replace them to keep from haveing to deal with problems later and also as a just incase thing if you want something a little stronger.

Alright then you are right dont replace them unless they are bad. Dont want to start a argument I guess it would more or less be up to personal preference.

My comments on the mani studs are based on own hands-on experience (about 7 years with supras now). I've had mani's on and off on different engines (7m, 1jz, 2jz) and only replaced one or two studs because of thread issues (never used/bought a new one though). None ever broke off.
I've broken off many bolts and studs on the car and engine, but never a mani stud. They're quite strong studs.
