1j and 2j Twin flange size?

Does anyone know the flange type or size from the stock turbos for both 1j and 2j? I heard that they were a toyota flange. I wanted this to be confirmed as im not positive. Does anyone make adapter flanges to mount to a T3 or T4 manifold? Want to use these on another engine.

You mean manifold flange, or exhaust flange? I assume you mean manifold. For the 1JZ, they're 3 bolts in an elongated triangular shape, with about a 1" circular opening in the center. There isn't much readily available, but it's painfully wasy to make an adapter with some plate steel and a hole saw.

I beleve the 2JZ one is almost identical, but with two more bolts.

Yes flange from manifold to turbo. Im trying to see if i can reuse a turbo off the 2j for another car. Since they pretty much are not worth selling.

If you have the turbo, trace the flange onto a piece of plate steel, plasma cut it out (or band saw), drill bolt holes, and center hole. Finished.

I've been kind of wondering what a 1JZ turbo would do on my lawn mower actually :)

I have 2JZ twins on my 1JZ manifolds, all that was done to mate them with the manifolds was to drill a hole in the turbo flange to match the 1JZ manifold. So it's essentially been converted to a 3 bolt flange. If that makes sense.

From there it's pretty much ALL custom, as far as the Y-pipe and DP.

haha since thats about what theyre worth. I see what youre saying. The front 2j turbo flange is triangular the rear is more pointed. Making some sort of adapter flange will be fun. Im hoping to mate it to a T3 style housing, maybe if i drilled an extra hole in the manifold, then center and put two holes in for the top, the front turbo looks like it could. Thanks, and if it works out, ill post pics.

Havent seen the 1js up close (my heat shield is still on) but i get what youre saying. I dont think ill be able to run two, since the engine im using this turbo on is fwd. But if i could, that would be sweet.

Another option im considering is a CT26. Ive got an extra, but can you imagine that on a 1.8l?

3S-GTE runs one and it's a 2L

Not the exact same turbo but not drastically different.

I've run a Supra CT26 on a 2L, spools fine.

What boost by what rpm?

I can't remember, it's been so long.

Was a Celica GT-four that I swapped a Supra CT26 into. Was running stock boost (8psi I believe for the 3S-GTE). Hit it around 3k I think. Keep in mind, I was running it with a divided rear housing.

The Celica CT26 and Supra CT26 spooled almost exactly the same, except the Supra CT26 didn't fall off past 6k on the motor like the Celica one did.

That could be caused by cams. Were they stock? The cams were prepared to use are a custom grind somewhere between a 264 and a 272, from stock GTX (mazda 323 gtx). Were also only looking for 300whp as a start, we will decide from there. Think 10lbs will do the trick? Oh and isnt the CT a T3 housing?

Edit: The engine 1.8, has a cr of 8.7:1 I believe.

As far as I know, stock cams. 300whp@10psi wiht a CT26? Maybe if the motor flows really well. You'll likely have to push it higher.

No the CT26 is NOT a T3 flange. It's a custom Toyota flange. 7M-GTE, 3S-GTE, 22R-TE and maybe a few others use the same flange.

to bolt the 2jz turbos to the 1jz half manifolds, you just drill out the existing holes a little, as the bolt spacing is slightly different.... you can use the stock 2jz y pipe if you put about a 5mm spacer between the 2 turbos as they sit a little further apart on the 2jz compared to the 1jz...

Ya just thought of reading that in another thread after i posted. I do know they make adapter plates, but where can i find one? BIC?
