I've been trying to gather some info on the 1g-gte. I was wondering, how much does it weigh compared to the 7m? It sounds like a reliable engine, and could get as much power as a decently modded 7m, so if it weighed significantly less, it might be a good way to cut down on some weight on a MKIII Supra. But it also seems like there is hardly any aftermarket support for it. Another idea came into my head as well. Instead of using it in a Supra, could it be possible to swap it into a MKII MR2? Since it is a 2.0, the size shouldnt be an issue, and you would have two more cylinders than with the 3S-GTE. But is there a transmission that would bolt up to it transversely? Just some thoughts if anyone has some input.

The motor won't fit in a MR2. It's a LONG motor. It would stick out the side :) Why not stick a camry V6 in the MR2?

FTW.. some guy around here is doing that, plus boost apparently.

Dude, since when does displacement have anything to do with the physical size of the engine? there is no way it would fit in an SW20!

OMG, sorry I just suffered a brain aneurysm. I am dead.
thank you. me too! the 1ggte isn't any lighter than a 7m, they are pretty close to the same. and just to put in perspective, an ls7 7 liter v8 weighs less than a 2.0 liter 1ggte. and mr2's are mid engine, so no, an inline 6 wont fit. does that answer your questions?
