has anyone ever tried to run the 7MGTE IC piping like that of a 1GGTE? i know it would get pretty restrictive at the TB but the same thing happens in the 7MGTE's IC area, and then we could run a regular FMIC

any thoughts?

(seeing the guy's thread with the 1GGTE made me think of all this)

IMO that's the only routing uglier than on the stock 7M.

It would be so much easier to run the turbo-to-IC pipe underneath, hidden, and half the length.
The upper half, I could see if you really wanted a conventional IC, but I'd just go through the trouble of a FFIM.

it should fit fine, but it's gonna be tough to get the bend right...

ebay IC piping kits are cheap....try it out and see if it would work

well i was considering it because if i (ever) go turbo, i'm going to be starting from scratch; no piping, no IC to start off with, and this idea seemed nicer because i've always liked the way the regular FMICs looked compared to the ones with both inlet/oulet on one side (sounds dumb, but hey we all modify our cars to look how we want them to)

I agree on the Intercooler thing... but I think a stock style IC looks much nicer than a big loop over the engine to go into the stock manifold. If you just went FFIM it would look great from the front, AND under the hood :naughty:

Radiator is a stock metal replacement radiator painted aluminum. Looks good though.... :biglaugh:

I don't have anymore pictures. The owner sold off the car several years ago. It was a beast though, dynoed 512 at 14 psi then spit out a piston a week later. It was a $200 junkyard motor while he was building up the full built motor.

It does save a few feet of intercooler piping. Also with the piping being 3 inches, it was a lot easier to route it this way.

I'm assuming you've done away with the stock radiator fan then?
