Okay, I was hoping never to delve into any MK3 electronics, but apparently I may not have a choice.
My 90 Supra had a dying battery (knew this.. was waiting to buy a new one) and I went this morning to spray out the engine bay in preparation of going through all the vacuum hoses, etc.. to freshen up the beast.
After the engine wash, while I was pulling out of the bay, the car began misfiring and ran very weakly. I was only a couple blocks from home, so I limped it home.
While I was driving, the brake light, battery light, ABS light all came on. Then they blinked off. Then they came on again. They were doing this off and on.
I replaced the battery and they havent come on again, but I am still misfiring. I blew the water out of the spark plug galley to make sure the ignition wires were not shorting out, but my guess is that this is what my problem is. Will water in the spark plug hole short out the wires? I do have another set of spark plug wires that I can replace them with, but wasn't sure if that would be the problem.
Any thoughts on what I killed by washing the engine? Everything was running perfectly prior.
Also, any idea what this plug is? I may have blew it off a connection, but I cant see any place for it to fit.
Also, this grey wire looks like it isn't healthy and could have been burnt/melted at one point in the past, not sure what it is
The problem with the car is that it used to have a remote start in it (still is.. but I dont know what brand, or what components are left.. or if there was an alarm component either), so they may be wires from that install, but a part could have been pulled out.
Any thoughts?
(the misfire after washing used to be a pretty easy fix... blow out the distributor cap.. voila.. fixed.. lol.)
Oh yeah, i should mention.. since day 1 of ownership, when I press the brake, the brakelight comes on. Pretty sure that was just a short in the tail light assembly that is pretty easy to fix. I have to do the rear tail seals, so was ignoring it until then as all lights work. Had this issue with my 88 and it was just a loose ground on the tail light.)
