So I have a 1990 build going on. 5spd turbo. about 425whp once the build is done. I'm going to cage it and go with racing seats and harness's. So I have no need for the airbag or any of the sensors etc.

Under the glove box is the airbag control unit... I would like to remove it as well as the airbag and all its sensors. Reason being is I want to put a pre 89 glovebox in but its to deep and hits the airbag unit.

Can anybody shed some light on the proper way to remove all of the equipment?

Thanks Guys!

First and foremost remove the ground cable off the battery.

After that you are free to remove anything with the airbag.

Steering wheel is torx bit. Dont quote me but from memory something like a t45 or so. Unplug and thats off.

Also if your caging it and lighter seat and possibly gutting to make it lighter why put the heavier glove box in?

When you get to the airbag the clip that holds the plug together is pretty intense and has to be flipped in order for the plug to come out, and do me a favor, be smart loosen everything and go to the passenger seat to pull the airbag out

As long as the ground cable on the battery is not grounded its impossible for the air bag to go off unless it defective in which case it would have gone off a long time ago.

When you first start working with air bags it can be a little nerve wrecking. After a while you get used to it tho. Its like working with hybrid cars. But yet im still pretty scared working with that stuff, but only cause i seen a dude get a small shock a couple times lol but that was with the big battery which i never messed with.

No no, I know how to remove the airbag itself. And there is no motor in the car... lol which means no battery in the car lol So I am not worried about the airbag.

Want I want to know how to remove is the airbag control unit without any airbag lights coming on. The center console box weight different is minuscule and wouldn't effect the car what so ever.

So with that said, any ideas?

Hell, if it does, pull the dash and pull the light out

I don't think it will come on without the computer though.
