:yikes:Hello i am starting a project build on my 1989 Supra, i will be doing 95% of the work with my father who is a certified mechanic. I am looking to get around 350 whp but reliable enough to be a daily driver. I do not have a set budget as i will only be upgrading over time when i have the money. As the supra sits right now it is bone stock with 550 injectors. The previous owner said he rebuilt the engine 77,XXX Km ago. So do you guys think another engine rebuild is needed to achieve 350 whp?
If so can i get some thought on this rebuild kit
For upgrades that i am thinking are
T61 turbo
greddy electronic boost controller
3" full exhaust + headers
intake
fuel pump
intercooler

Here are some pictures of the car, i will get some of the interior and engine bay asap. The front end exterior is pretty bad but i have a parts car i will be using to repalce the fender hood and bumper other then that the car is pretty solid.

Thanks for the input, do you think the list of parts i listed could get me to 350? And one of the pistons is not firing untill the car has warmed up a bit, i'm pretty sure this is due to the mhg leaking?

Looks like a good car for a build/project, Garett. Is there any reason why you want to put such a large turbo on when you have such a relatively small HP goal? A 57 trim CT will get you to your goal and spool pretty quickly too. What are you planning to do for fuel control? Have you thought of purchasing a wideband 02 sensor as well? If not, those would be 2 more things to add to your list. GL with your build!

Thanks for the reply, well i will constantly be upgrading when ever i have the money, 350 hp is just a temporarily goal as i would like to get use to a more powerfull car being that i am only 17 and coming from 106 hp saturn :runaway: Would you have any recommendations on a fuel control, would a Apexi SAFC get the job done? And would a lexus AFM or stage 2/3 clutch be needed?

i would honestly just keep it stock just for now if i were you. And coming from a saturn, this would be really fast... lol just raise the boost to like 12 psi for now and you can save up money to do the other stuff kinda together... you can get somewhere around 280-300 hp with just that, and that isnt bad for a first "fast" car for a couple months... idk thats just my opinion... Good Luck with it though!

I agree with what you are saying but i actually will be driving it stock for awhile. I will be rebuilding the engine and getting the parts as i get paid and the t61 will be one of the last upgrades as i find most of the other parts are needed first.

Save for maintenance. I'm in the same boat. Daily aiming for 350. You'll need a good exhaust, intake, boost controller, fuel management (mart pro, safc, etc.), rebuilt trimmed turbo from driftmotion will help.

Headers aren't necessary. Neither is the bigger turbo, though it will make it easier. 350 is probably about the limit with the CT26.

A more efficient intercooler is a good idea too.

Thanks for the response i found it helpful. I was doing some inspection's etc and a lot of the 7MGTE Harness plugs/sensors are not plugged in now i have found a few helpful resources, 7M-Gte-Wiring-Harness-Plugs-What-is-what-Walk-Through
and then i the found a manual and "Position of Parts In Engine Compartment"and I was going through and seeing if i could find all the sensors and plugs from the harness walk through on the diagram and a lot of them are not on there. Would anyone happen to know a more detailed harness hook up walk through?

I just got the chance to check back, and every one else has said most of it. I would get the lex AFM for now if you have already got the 550's. That will make power with the stock ECU/Fuel maps, No AFC necessary. If you decide to eliminate the MAF sensor and switch to Map operation, go with some thing like a MAFT-Pro, HKS F-Con/ VPC combo or Map ECUv.2 and you will have the fuel system control you will need. All are proven to make power on these cars when properly tuned and many have used them with great success. You will need to buy a wide band and a few other sensors and re-route/extend/add some wiring for any of these options as well in order to get the system retuned and running properly.

On the subject of the clutch, I would install something that is rated for the power that it will EVENTUALLY possibly see on the street. That means you need to ask yourself what your long term horsepower goal is for the car and plan accordingly. If you are only trying to hit 400 HP in the long term, an ACT stage 2-3 or other comparable clutch should work, but if your going for more in the neighborhood of 600HP or more you will need something that is a bit more aggressive. Hope this info helps and enjoy your car!

One of the main difference between the HKS alphabet and MAFT-Pro is $$$. Used is a different story, but I don't know if I would want 20 year old used expensive electronics. New would be over $2500 for the VPC/PFC-Fcon and a GCC.

350whp is achievable on a stock block, with Lex afm/550's/afc/fuel pump/afpr/wideband with intercooler/exhaust/intake and a 50trim or larger ct26 bolt on. I was making just under 360 on this exact setup with a ct26 50 trim at 18psi.

I'm onto bigger power goals at this point...and will be tuning/dynoing this Friday. The stock block, depending on its condition and how much it's abused can handle upwards 500whp. For a daily, I would shoot for between 350/450 whp on my personal experience. Goodluck man.

Any thoughts on what exhaust i should look into? Not looking to spend a fortune. And how much of a hp increase with a full 3"

Also what parts should i be prioritizing over others?
Rebuild -> fuel pump -> lexus afm -> safc -> wide band o2 sensor -> exhaust -> intake -> boost controller -> intercooler -> turbo?

Thanks for the responses everyone, 350-450 hp is about as far that i will go. From where i am from there is not a lot of streets just to go ripping through.
