Well I have finally caught up with all my projects I had waiting to be done.. one being a 3 month build on a twin turbo Stealth.. Sick car by the way! :)
Anyway.. After a couple other small builds and trying different setups, I've decided on exactly what I wanted to do. So.. I'm doing it. A complete strip down of everything from the windshield forward, paint, a good strong engine build, lots of my own fabrication and bling!

Here's pics of the progress so far..

Starting point...

Comments, questions and suggestions are more than welcome!

Thanks

Well, I wanted to just leave it, but under the hood was all scratched up , wanted to do a wire tuck and possibly seam weld. and theres some leaks that need taken care of in a/c system and PS system..

I don't have any pics of the stealth, but maybe i can get him on here and he cam post a couple it's a VERY nice car.. everything done to that car has been done by me.. rebuilt bottom end, bigger turbos, fuel pump, afc, scanmaster, IPS 3" exhaust, 3" downpipe, fuel injectors, flywheel, clutch, the list goes on.. that car is sick.

it looked good before, but i want to see pics after the wire tuck.

Ask and you shall receive.. Didn't get a chance to paint today, had some other things around the house I had to take care of and a couple of places I had to go so I was running short on time. But since it was somewhat warm today, I decided to push it outside, lift it up and degrease it all. And I do mean ALL! Check it out..

Okay, after many weeks of setbacks I'm actually able to continue my build project. As you'll see EVERYTHING forward of the windshield is stripped. I cleaned it many many times then went through with 3M Scotch Brite pads, some lacquer thinner and some diaper cloth and spent a couple hours prepping it for paint.

Finally after some sweat and Gatorade and a Coors light, it was time for base coat.. I used PPG JB1 base coat, which is probably what the rest of the car will get in the future. Now before the flame fest begins, please bare in mind that I have NEVER ONCE painted with an actual air gun, always been small projects with rattle cans. This is the first time I've ever done it.

Put down two coats of base on it. Came out nicely.. Couple of runs, but i wasn't too concerned considering it was down on the frame rails where you can't see.
Now for the clear coat! I put down 3 coats of PPG clear coat. Excuse some of the pics because theyre kind of grainy. There was A TON of fumes, paint particles, etc. floating around! It was midnight on a work night and I just wanted to get my pics and get to bed! The clearer pics were taken the next morning.

Not bad for my first paint project ever.. I'm extremely happy with it! Now to start my wire tuck on the body wiring so there's no extra unnecessary relays and crap in the engine bay! I'll post pics of that later this week!

Thanks for the kind words guys! Keep 'em comin'.. Keeps me motivated..lol
I've really been taking my time and being very particular on what I do and the order in which it's done. I've taken a lot of short cuts in the past and all it's done is cost me money. So this time is the last time and it's going to be done perfectly. I also painted my sub-frame or engine cradle, or whatever you want to call it, as well as the lower control arms and I've cleaned up the upper control arms. I'll take pics of those after I clean and paint my steering rack.

Anyone have any tips they would want to share for my wire tuck? I'm always open to suggestions from those with experience. I'll be doing the body harness first. Such as the fuel pump relay and all the other crap on the fender wells that is cluttering up the engine bay.

WOW, if I had the space to gut my bay, I'd definitely do that. looks like I will just have to remove all the fender accessories and pull it all to thecenter of motor then foil paper the stuff to protect from overspray.

Thanks, Al! Progress is kinda slow.. lost interest for about a month, but im back in the game. Got the engine block in the machine shop now, ordered pistons, got some misc parts from work to continue the wiring nightmare. When the pistons come in they along with the rods will be sent to be cryo treated. It's coming together slowly. But itll all be worth it in the end.
