Well a friend of mine has a set of panther intimidator rims for sale... 17x7's... 5*114.3 with a 45mm offset... I would like to know if these rims would fit, and maybe, what any of you thought of them. I can get a wicked deal on em with 90% tread Nexen N3000 tires (205/40ZR17)... here is a picture of the rims..

What do you think of the rims... and will they fit?

Oh, and here is the rubber..

They'll fit alright...just won't look right. Wrong offset, and too narrow. Put a 15mm spacer behind them in the rear, and a 10mm in the front, then squeeze the biggest tire you can safely get on a 7" rim:aigo: ...say a 245/40, and go with a 225/40 front and you might have something that looks half way decent!:icon_razz Or just do 235/40's all the way around, keeping the spacers. That 45mm offset is for fwd cars, and really makes 7" rims look sucked in!::hah:: As for the design of the rim, looks good. However, if it were me, I'd just go buy a decent set of staggered rims off of E-Bay, just looked at a set the other night for less than $600.00, w/o tires of course, but some packages aren't much more with tires, ya' just got to look around. Personally, I'd just save some more money, and put something that fwd geeks, can't run on their cars, without major fender/axle modifications. One of the joys of rwd ownership!!!
P.S. You won't care for those tires at all, too freakin' loud, and nooo traction!

my question is are you more concerned with cornering or accelerating. lower profile tires get more traction for turning but high profiles get better traction for accelerating.

well, I wasnt too concearned about the width (I am now tho..)... but aren't the stock rims 16x7? and they seam to manage fine... the chances are I wont be able to get the rims, since he told me his brother might be buying a 91 black turbo subaru legacy awd today (these rims are coming off a 93 turbo legacy awd) and if he does, he gets dibs on the rims... I just wanted something for the time being to replace my UGLY curb rashed sawblades before I go turbo, that will look alright, wont hurt performance at all (same width, lower profile, better no?).. of course I would get some wider rims when I go turbo. Oh, and my current tires are pretty much dead, these rims + 90% tread rubber, will cost me about $100 more than new tires alone.

Excellent prices on those MB rims. Those are very 'JDM" looking. The 'Weapon' rims also come in 18's, available from Discount Tire for a little more, but still won't break the bank. Listen to all of us, and stay away from the fwd offsets, you'll be happier in the end.:icon_bigg
MkIII's have big fenderwells for a reason!!!:icon_razz
