Yes, I am the one who posted the Walbro /12Volt article with lots of pictures. I has just pulled that tank back out of that car, and installed it into my new 92, that came with a battery relocation that resides right over the access panel. I stated in my old thread that I was no wiring genius.
I went ahead and installed it like it was, with the wiring coming from under the battery tray. There is about a finger tip sized gap where the tray doesn't quite cover the entire hole. In my uneducated mind, I feel like it is safe, because the wiring is more free than it was with the access cover screwed down over it. But the battery makes me nervous enough to show pictures. The lower tray is metal, and covered with (looks like) rubber. Above that is a thick bucket that holds the battery. There are threaded hold downs and a strap, so the battery should be pretty secure. The picture shows all of the wiring to the relay except for the power from the battery. It will be installed with a fuse when the battery goes in. I also plan to have custom carpet made to follow where the trunk board is cut out.
